How We Can Help Men Combat Lust - Without Misplacing Responsibility or Subjecting Others to Shame

I wrote another "scary" article today about lust and modesty. I say "scary" because I'm battling anxiety just thinking about the criticism that could potentially thrown my way by talking about these things.
But I'm hugely passionate about this!
Have any of you heard the outcries when people suggest that modesty isn't the answer to lust?
-- "Surely we shouldn’t disregard people's struggles!"
"Men are already bombarded with temptation 'in the world', so can't their Christian 'sisters' give them reprieve?!"
"Surely we shouldn't disregard people's struggles!"
"What about becoming a 'stumbling block to the weak'? We have a duty to not lead people towards sin!"

Thanks WiseWay, I appreciate that.
Lots more can be said about the history, evolution and attitudes about modest apparel
But we can rest assured, if men, who can’t (or won’t) control their appetites and lusts didn’t want to see exposed female bodies (other than their wives), there would be no such thing as pornography and revealing women’s clothing!
Women who simply follow the semi-pornographic subculture of dress approved by men of lust are not independent thinking women

Matthew 5 verses 27 - 28
27 “You have heard that it was said, ‘YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY’;
28 but I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
In this section of Scripture, Messiah does not talk about what the woman is wearing, He does not condemn her, nor does He tell her to change her clothes.
Messiah places the responsibility upon the man, but modern day man blames the woman for how she dresses
:he woman at that time were covered pretty well,and men still lusted for them.
Jeremiah 17 verse 9 - 10
9“The heart is more deceitful than all else
And is desperately sick;
Who can understand it?
10 “I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind,
Until the man trusts Messiah, he has no power to change,he does not have the Holy Spirit.

In Jesus’ day Jewish men and women’s dress covered the body as it did for centuries prior and centuries after. Jesus probably didn’t mention female dress because nakedness was throughly discusses in the law.
As for a comprehensive treatment of the history of dress, I can only speak in a general sense because we don’t always have access to that kind of information. Dress styles also vary from culture to culture. In fact, Israelites were commanded not to copy or follow the ways of the pagan nations around them.
But today (and progressively for about the last 80 years) pagan men have made it known they prefer to see more and more female skin to lust after. So they cheer their women to wear even less. And their women happily just go along.
In the last several years, some women in some places have gone topless and have conducted topless protests. They claim that makes them “equal” with men. Exactly how showing off more female parts makes them equal with men is a remarkable stretch. Regardless, these lady’s men of lust wouldn’t have it any other way!

I agree.
I’m not really arguing with you, Quiz, just adding to the conversation. I think you agree with me on most of this anyway.
I think you would agree with me that the original purpose of clothing began in the garden of Eden. Clothing signified a covering of nakedness which wasn’t a problem before sin.
Now here’s the modern dilemma. We (men and women) see the whole person in front of us—peripheral vision is quite vivid for most people and is almost impossible to ignore. We can see whole person even at the eye to eye level. Obviously everything a person wears on the outside can be seen at this level.
Enter now Revealing clothing! Revealing clothing is designed to reveal—let’s not kid ourselves, ask any clothing designer. It’s kinda hard to deny the purpose of something especially if designed for that specific purpose.
If a woman wants to reveal her stuff then she wears revealing clothing—and then acts as if she’s been violated when noticed. Can some women really be that naive?? Apparently some are!
It’s kinda ironic how women wearing revealing skirts attempt a false modesty by crossing their legs!
I would challenge any man who insists dressing his trophy objects in provocative clothing just to boost his pride—that man should at least be consistent and call himself an atheist rather than a part-time Christian!

Dave,
I agree, BUT when people, ( yes even those called christians ) want the laws of men instead of the Word and Will of GOD Almighty then we have what we have today.
The laws of men say a persons 1st Ammendment right to speech ( this includes clothing as a means to make a statement ) cannot be interferred with, BUT wear clothing containing the Word of GOD Almighty, then we change the defintions of the words in the same laws to fit mans agenda.
