Admin	The True Love Waits Pledge Posted : 23 Apr, 2011 01:06 AM What is your opinion about the TLW pledge? I think it makes no sense. With the divorce rate as high as it is--even among Christians, doesn't that invalidate the TLW message? And who says True Love Waits? Waits for what? If you believe in it, that is fine, but I am not sure that it is even Biblical. If you think it is, show me chapter and verse. Post Reply
View Profile History	The True Love Waits Pledge Posted : 23 Apr, 2011 04:24 PM I think it works when you put it in the context of God's love for us - He'll wait until you're on your deathbed with only minutes left before you give him your heart and he'll still accept you and forgive you as easily as if you'd walked with Him all your life. Putting it in human terms though? The nearest match my brain offers is in terms of pre-marital sex. Guess I could use some time on the couch, huh? Post Reply

View Profile History	The True Love Waits Pledge Posted : 28 Apr, 2011 07:15 PM 1 Corinthians 6:12a (NKJV) says, "All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful..." Other translations say allowed, permitted, beneficial; so it says that anything we do is lawful/allowed/permitted, but not all of these things are helpful or beneficial. I can go out and get drunk with my friends, even being a Christian, because I am permitted to do it, but how is getting drunk beneficial to me... alcohol makes people do and say stupid things when too much is had. But this verse (and the 8 that follow it) is talking specifially about sexual immorality. Sure, sex outside of marriage is allowed, but how is it helpful or beneficial to you? Verse 16 says, "Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For 'the two' He says, 'shall become one flesh'." Sex intimately joins two people, whether you believe it or not. Verse 18 says, "Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body." I believe that sexual immorality refers to lust, porn, and pleasing yourself (sex outside of marriage is part of pleasing yourself). Post Reply
