Worst date? I've had 1 ... and it was awful!!

I met a guy at Applebee's for dinner, and he began talking and talking about an ex-girlfriend. Since I really went into the date as "friends first" I wanted to be a supportive "friend" and listen to what happened with his past relationship. But ... time passed and I couldn't get him to change the subject and move on to something else. Every time I brought up a different topic he managed to segue back into relating it to her! When I brought up movies, he told me all about their "special movie". He never asked me anything in order to get to know me at all!

He went on and on about how much he goes the extra mile for people, too. Then, at the end of the date- asked me for a $1.00 so that he could tip the waitress! Unbelievable!! That was the final thing for me 'cuz I wasn't going to let him treat the waitress that badly. So, I got a separate check and tipped her myself.

It was a horrible couple of hours ... but now, I just laugh about the whole thing.

I got set up with a cute little redhead last year to be her semi-formal date, so being the wise, intelligent man that I am, I decided it would be better to get to know her a little before we went to semiformal. I invited her over to dinner the Tuesday beforehand, and my roommate and I made his fiance and my date an excellent dinner of shrimp alfredo. The three of us tried to include this girl in our conversation, but she kept giving one word answers and just sitting there awkwardly the whole night. That Friday, we went to dinner with a group, and I found myself having much better conversation with her roommate than I was having with my date. When we got to the semiformal, she basically ditched me to dance with her friends while I talked with some guys who didn't dance and ate brownies. Oh, and she had offered to drive, but then turned out to be so scared of driving, I had to take over the driving responsibilities.

After what seemed like forever, the night was over. I later heard that she went and told her entire sorority that I was creepy, awkward, weird, and that I had bad taste in music. Luckily, a number of her sisters defended me, but geeze! I never want to go through that again!

Casual? Yes, casual until your date decides to bring another female along. Threes a crowd! And this has happened twice with two different guys. So I decided a little more formal is the way to go. Yes, this is an actual date. And no, you cannot bring another female along.

The problem would be to continue talking about your social intelligence!
