For those who are not catholic this just serves as an educational piece so it can clear up any mis-information about Mary. I shouldn't have to be grilled about my faith on a christian site. It is appalling that this is allowed. So for any other catholics on here please be careful if you decide to date another person from another religion because this can or might not happen to you. I tried to send an email to this person to defend myself but it must have been to long and didnt go through.

In light of this here is something to help with the understanding of Mary.

thank you and God bless

Mary may indeed have been blessed more than any other woman in history, and I wouldn't dream of insulting her - but that's as far as it goes. Several others in the Bible have been similarly greeted by angels (Gideon springs to mind) yet nobody prays to them. If you pray to Mary, how much more should you pray to Moses who saw God's glory, or Abraham who God made the covenant with!? When you pray to her you're effectively saying that Jesus won't pay you the same attention. Why not?

The example in article shows Jesus honouring his mother's request at the wedding - but notice He also rebuked her for it! When told that His mother and brothers were waiting for Him, how did He answer?

There's several other falsehoods in this article but I'm already late for work. Suffice to say that whilst we respect Mary because God chose her to carry His Son, we don't ascribe any special abilities to her such as intercession as this is simply not taught anywhere in the new testament. Things have been proclaimed by the RC church that simply aren't there in Scripture and they're hindering a full relationship with Christ. I would suggest you stick to dating Catholics if you don't want to be challenged on those certain beliefs.

yeah... also never heard of anyone ever praying to any of the prophets... not even to Enoch who went up to Heaven for a bit, came back for a last visit and then went back to God.

Don't jews pay to the profits? Like I always heard they pray to Moses. Also I grew up going to a Catholic Church and we were told that it's only ok to pray to any profit for intermission only. and praying for intermission was a slippery slope form what I was always told. I never quite got of why so many Christian say we pray to marry like she's God, pro tip we don't.

Mary is an ordinary human like anyone of us whom God wanted to use. To bow down therefore to her statue and pray to her would mean praying to the dead person.

"Thou shall not worship or bow down to any idol or worship it, the Lord tolerate no rivals." Deuteronomy 5:7-9

OK now, we're treading dangerously close to political correctness here, & socially acceptable "tolerance". There are vast differences between Catholicism & Protestants; why in the world would it be considered prejudice if one wouldn't want to go out with the other? That's just wrong to label it prejudice!

As someone who is Spirit Filled Charismatic, having grown up in Evangelical Baptist churches, I would not feel comfortable going to a Catholic church, nor attending one on a regular basis. Besides of which, I would never be allowed to participate in communion as I was married briefly in my twenties, & despite the fact I have remained single since.

After divorce, I went out with a Catholic guy, loved him deeply, & decided to convert to Catholicism to please him, prior to marriage. Mind you, I was (& am!!) a Born Again Christian since age 11 & had spent much time in Bible reading & study. So I attended catechism classes..... very briefly, & the priest was quite relieved to see me go, lol! Because everything he said, & tried to teach, I would "challenge" with what the Bible actually says! And no, I never did marry this guy....

So! Does that make me "prejudiced" because I choose NOW not to date a Catholic man, knowing I could never ever convert to Catholicism? I think not! I want to be EQUALLY yoked, EQUALLY joined with my life partner, the man God has chosen for me..... That being said, I find it hard to believe that God's perfect plan for my life would involve converting to Catholicism!

I would not choose to date/marry a Catholic, not because I question their salvation or hold some prejudice against them, but because we have some major doctrinal differences that would simply prevent me from truly becoming one with her.

I would also not choose to date/marry women from some Protestant denominations for the same reason. I have family with whom I have major doctrinal differences, and we simply cannot discuss certain things because we disagree so passionately about them. I still love them and am not prejudice toward them.
