Loosing Weight...

This Question is for the Guys and the Gals...

In the course of getting to know each other, one party (either the guy or the girl) suggested that you need to loose weight, not for appearance but for health reasons.

Would you consider it?

If a person you love needs to lose weight then you would not be loving them by not telling them.

Finding the best way to do it would be the real question.

It's a red-flag if someone you are just getting to know is trying to change you/is criticizing you already. It's very rude to mention someone's weight, no matter how well you know them. This is just basic manners. A person is well aware of their own body and women especially are generally self-critical enough and don't need outside help with that.

A person's body will change over their lifetime, especially if you plan to have children or live to middle age and beyond.

I'd say that it should not be brought up by simply saying, "you need to lose weight for health reasons." The person concerned for your health should be willing to do something about it besides just say it.

For example, if I believe someone I love needs to lose weight for health reasons, I might ask them to go walking with me, because I need the exercise and don't want to walk alone. That is a true and honest request, it accomplishes the same goal, and I'm not putting all the burden on her.

If she doesn't want to, I go ahead and do my walking for my own health and let her decide if and when she wants to join me.

We shouldn't guilt people into doing things, even if it's for their own good.
