Why some prayers are answered and some not

I heard a sermon yesterday from Pastor Dan Augsburger and he spoke right to my heart and i wanted to share it with you.

When the children of Israel was in Egypt, they adopted their ways. It was hard for them bcoz men were slaves and their babies were killed.

But the reason why they didn't found answers was bcoZ they didn't ask God to take them out of Egypt but that their situation could get better IN Egypt.

We don't pray that we can have Eternal life. We don't think about our salvation and the salvation of others anymore.

Moses turn to the right and left and killed the Egyptian. If he was doing good he would have not be troubled. What is happening is that we do god's work. We must let Him do His job and the blessing will come. He doesn't need our help. There must be dying of self. We must relearn to walk with God.

The ways for our prayers would work are that

1. Take God's word seriously. They had to put blood on their doors. You may think that you know better but God's plan is the best. He doesn't allow any compromise. Otherwise, we are wasting our time.

2. Go to the red sea. God could have use a shortcut but He chose the long way. Even if it doesn't make sense. They had the sea in front of them, the mountains at both sides and the army behind. God led them where they would be delivered. God will lead us. When we do His will He will make a way. Most problems are followed with great victories. If we choose to obey.

They spent three days in the hot wilderness. No food, no water and no shadow just heat. This is the hardest lesson, the timing of God. When we pray and that we don't get any answer in one week we let go. God takes time. God is the best matchmaker ever. We must accept God's timing with no anger, no jealousy, no comparison.

Then they went to Mara and the water was bitter. We must accept God's disappointments. God wants us to be disappointed bcoz there're no other way to learn some lessons.

There were 70 palm trees and 12 wells. They appreciated disappointments but it was time for blessings. God gives greater blessings through deceptions. We have to follow Him step by step.

12 spies went to visit the promised land. Two said we can and ten said we cannot. The crowd followed the ten. We work through our intellectual understanding. They didn't learn to trust God. They were scared And return to the wilderness. Even there they were blessed. They had their food, their water and their clothes grew on them. They received wilderness blessings not promised land blessings. We receive wilderness blessings now not yet the promised land blessings.

In Jericho, the had to turn around the city for seven days, quietly. The seventh day they shouted. God broke the walls down. They obeyed God completely, without complaining, even if none understood. They seemed fool but God gave them victory. God answers and taught them that they should not murmur.

We need a new heart and a new will to follow Him. We must trust Him. Trust and obey you will see victories. You cannot change your life. You can only pray and He brings the miracle. Pray for your salvation and for God to control your life. May His will be done not yours. He brings joy and peace. We have to surrender our lives to Him. Amen

Thanks for sharing. Good stuff.

I read someones little title for their profile and it said something like sometimes God doesn't answer prayers because the teacher doesn't talk when the student is being tested. I'm not doing it justice but anyway I think that does have some truth to it.

James 4:2-3

2You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God. 3When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.

Some prayers are answered because:

1. You/we ask and believe and trust the Lord and never doubt of God's Sovereignty.

2. The motives of prayer must be aligned with God's instructions.

3. Pray fervently and believe God's promises, sometimes the answer is quite long and sometimes the answer is instant. Sometimes God not answer right away because we need to learn how to be patient, trust, and unshakeable faith...our faith must be molded and not be shaken despite of obstacle along our way.

4. Have an intimate relationship with HIM, strive hard to know him more and spread the good news. always consult God with all we do.

5. Learn Jesus Christ ways and know his character and leave our old ways.

6. If our prayers are align with God instructions then 100% he will answer our prayers just learn how to be patient.
