Somebody might be getting a police visit!

I'll just start out by saying that a young woman sent me a "wink" on here and a conversation started. Anyway, messages were sent back and forth between myself and this woman until I finally felt like she was probably legit. So I mentioned something about texting each other because she seemed like she was genuinely interested. Anyway, she was fine with that and acted like it would make it easier on her. However, after texting her for a while, I found out a few things that made me feel deeply concerned about her safety because of her living environment. So naturally, out of heartfelt concern, I tried to find out the basic details about something that had happened to her and her Mom. After asking a few questions, I found out that her Dad had been physically abusive to them, which resulted in her and her Mom leaving with help from law enforcement. I also ended up finding out that the young lady wasn't legally suppose to be on this dating site because she wasn't even 18 years old yet. The only reason I didn't walk away from the situation at that point was because she had moved back in with her Dad (the one who abused her and her Mom). Needless to say, I cared about her and didn't want anything bad to happen to her again. By the way, when I found out she wasn't 18 yet, I decided not to report her since she was only a few months away from turning 18 years old.

So now I'll just cut to the chase...

After having communicated for several days, I thought things were going pretty good...but eventually she told me that she doubted that things would work out between us. So I asked her if she would please explain why (because I honestly thought things were going pretty good). Anyway, I didn't receive a response...so after a little while, I thought maybe the message had failed to send properly. Eventually, I sent another message asking her to please explain why. Again, no response...so I thought maybe she was busy doing something else and hadn't heard her phone go off (this had actually happened once before). Anyway, after I finally realized that maybe I had been scammed by some con-artist...I decided to send a text letting the person know that I was going to have to contact the police about something. I didn't mention why, but it was because the person had found out a few bits and pieces of information about me that might be reason for concern. Anyhow, I went to sleep a little early that night and was awakened by the "text message sound" of my cell phone not long before midnight! The nature of the text was such that I had trouble getting back to sleep, because it appeared that perhaps the person was legit...that perhaps it really was a young lady I had been communicating with. However, from the way the text was worded, it appeared as if her Dad had gotten her phone and had found out what she had told me about him...and because of what the text said, I started thinking maybe he had physically abused her again. By the way, I hadn't yet gone through with contacting the police at that point. Why? For several reasons...but mainly because I had thought about it for a little while, and decided not to do that until I after I talked to my Dad. You see, my Dad is good friends with over half of the police in the county...not to mention State Police Sergeants!

Long story short, people had best not play "mind games" like that with me...because I won't lose but one night of sleep over it before doing something about it!

Anyhow, I don't know who the person is, or what he or she was up to...but somebody might be getting a visit from the police in the near future. Right now, I'm just thankful that my Dad is good friends with so many law enforcement officers and such! Folks, please be careful! And yes, I did report the person to CDFF.

It's not illegal to make someone believe they are someone they aren't. Sounds like you just got played.

It might not be illegal to act as someone else but it begs the question why would someone be doing so, if that does turn out to be the case with anyone on here people should report them as a scammer!
