Admin	An Uncommon for the Common Posted : 12 Jul, 2010 06:11 PM We describe a certain malady as a common cold. We encourage people to use common sense. We use the term commonplace. Common can be defined as ordinary or usual. Common things do not excite us very much. We prefer words ending in "est" such as greatest, finest, purest, fastest, etc. Paul wrote to Titus these words in Titus 1:4 "To Titus mine own son after the common faith." What is a "common faith?" The word "common" here is translated "koinos" which means the faith shared with others. We are all saved the same way. Ephesians 2:8-9, "By grace are ye saved through faith; and not that of yourselves; it is the gift of God: not of works lest any man should boast. John 3:16 shows the commonality of salvation by the word "whosoever." This word carries no titles, ethnicity, status, or conditions. Calvary's hill was as ordinary as other hills; the wooden cross was not custom made but common made; the nails were common. The only thing extraordinary about Calvary was the Man hanging there. Some folks believe they have cornered the market on the way to heaven and scorn others who do not share like belief. That can never be done until the "whosoevers" are deleted from God's Word. Truly God's Word shows an uncommon for the common. Truly, the scripture shows the accessibility of salvation for all of the nations, all of the generations, all of the tribes. "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." (Romans 10:13) Post Reply
