As partakers in the Christian development, do we suggest the new believer to read the old or new testament first?

Hello to you there,

I personally don't think there's a fomuler to go about this. God speaks to us in different ways, my new beginnings with Christ Jesus were sustained by the old testament.

When reading a new testament, I then got a clear understanding of the older testament, through the holy spirit's help I even understood the continuation and recent changes made by Christ Jesus from the older to the new testament.

I think you should rather advise a new born in Christ to pray before reading the bible & ask for God's guidance.

That's a good question you've asked.

We generally recommending starting with thebook of John...it is straightforward and much of it is Jesus talking.

Definitively not Leviticus or Chronicles!

I agree with teach. John first, then the whole NT. Then the Old Testament. That's the way I was taught, my parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, etc.

Normally I tell new believers to begin with the Gospel of John, because it explains God's Nature, as well as the relationship between God and His other personas (Jesus and Holy Spirit).

Hope that helps!
