New York is not the only state doing that. My tax is double on the secondary residency. How ridiculous? No electricity and no running water and I'm being charged near 2,000 USD a year on property tax. They invent legal channels to steal money. Post Reply

They got rid of a long-standing promo which they no longer do. But what surprised me is on the receipt they included what they called a "Universal Charge". So, in addition to paying taxes, we paid a "Universal Charge" of $1.21. They invent ways to take money. Post Reply

Posted : 3 Jun, 2026 07:55 AM It's nothing new, many restaurants in Las Vegas have been secretly adding charges and calling them various things for years. Most of the time when customers complained about the mysterious charge they would remove it. It's also been happening in many other places. If it was me I would speak to the manager, register my displeasure and seal it by taking my business elsewhere. Post Reply
