The movie was about a man that wanted to rob his wife. The situation dictated that the man needed to prove that his wife was mentaly incompent (which the lady was not). However the ladies husband tried to drive the woman crazy by getting her to doubt her own sanity. The name 'gaslighting' is drawn from one of the tactics that the man often relied on. The man would allow the lady to turn the lights to a comfortable level, then the man would secretly dim the lights so that the lady would question if she was even able to adjust the lighting on her own.
