Herman Cain, a former 2012 Republican presidential candidate, has died at 74 after contracting the coronavirus and battling the infection for nearly a month, his staff announced Thursday.
“Herman Cain – our boss, our friend, like a father to so many of us – has passed away,” wrote Dan Calabrese, who edits Cain’s website. “We all prayed so hard every day. We knew the time would come when the Lord would call him home, but we really liked having him here with us, and we held out hope he’d have a full recovery.”
Cain, was diagnosed on June 29 with coronavirus. Two days later he “developed symptoms serious enough that he required hospitalization” and was transported to a hospital in the Atlanta area.
Ten days earlier, Cain, a co-chair of Black Voices for Trump, attended President Trump’s rally on June 20 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, which public health officials warned could be a catalyst for spreading the virus.
Cain’s staff said earlier this month that there was “no way of knowing for sure how or where” Cain contracted the virus, but they expressed hope that he would survive, noting that Cain was diagnosed in 2006 with stage four colon cancer and given a 30 percent chance of survival but had been in remission since receiving chemotherapy treatments.
The former CEO of Godfather’s Pizza ran for the Republican presidential nomination in 2011 but dropped out several months later amid allegations of sexual harassment and misconduct, which he strongly denied. He was briefly considered last year by Trump for a seat on the Federal Reserve Board but dropped out when four Republican senators spoke against his nomination.
He is survived by his wife Gloria, his two children, and four grandchildre
to the best of my knowledge, Mr. Cain was a good man. I might be wrong, but i dont think he wore a mask at the rally. With cancer and other medical problems, he SHOULD have worn a mask. I pray for his family.
Mask wearing doesn’t keep you from getting COVID. You’ll get COVID regardless of your mask. Even advanced masks supposedly cannot effectively block COVID.
Surgeon’s wear masks to protect the patient. But surgeons dress appropriately if a patient can spread something to the doctor.
Supposedly the purpose of the mask is to slow down the spread of the virus by keeping infected mask wearers from spreading the virus by catching droplets of saliva or spit when the wearer speaks, coughs or sneezes.
But some doctors dispute the effectiveness of masks catching enough airborne droplets but these professional voices are strangely being silenced. In fact, I looked on one popular search engine, known for its democrat bias and could find hardly a positive mention for those doctors and the drug hydroxychloroquine.
Speaking of hydroxychloroquine, doctors all over are speaking out about the effectiveness of treating COVID with hydroxychloroquine but again, they’re being silenced and in some cases maligned—ie Facebook and Twitter have removed the doctors and others who mentioned positive use of the drug. Fortunately, fb and Twit didn’t pull the plug soon enough because several (million? can’t remember) viewers had already read about it. I didn’t hear about the hydroxychloroquine dust up in time to read about it myself, only heard reports on radio.
Sorry some information here is a bit sketchy because I can’t remember everything I heard.
I don’t know if the drug can now be prescribed or not or if it can be obtained over the counter—kinda clueless on that for the moment but it’s a very inexpensive drug, perhaps another reason it’s being poopooed.
Hydroxychloroquine has been used successfully literally FOR YEARS with hardly any risk to patients say doctors and scientists using it or advocating it.
It’s been used successfully to treat certain viral infections including malaria but liberal media reports poopoo the drug even though their claims have been proven false.
I haven’t heard or read if Cain’s doctors were able to obtain or administer the drug hydroxychloroquine to him or no
