The fiscal cliff is essentially what critics and the media are calling the impasse that congress and the president are at in terms of how best to deal with the country's financial situation. The deal they made before the recent elections what that they would pretty much put of the real brunt of the country's budgeting woes until now, and that if no agreement is reached, a bunch of spending cuts and tax hikes would occur in order to automatically deal with the country's debt. Those spending cuts will effect pretty much everybody in that certain government services will be curtailed, military spending would not be where it is, and especially if there are tax hikes, the economy could tank. That will most likely have a ripple effect across the globe since the US is an integral part of global commerce, and even foreign aid will most likely be cut too, leaving much of it up to private organizations. Hopefully it won't come down to that though... but we'll see. Politicians usually don't have everyone's best interests as first priority at times... Post Reply
