I thought I read the average was around $74,000 but still. They are forgetting what's important here and that is the students. These teachers disagree with the idea of merit based pay. There are no winners here as the students will suffer. The teachers disagreed with a 16% raise over the next 3 or 5 years(something like that). I'm all for having teacher's wages be higher where they deserve it and where it is extremely low.

The strike is ongoing and that is in Lake Forest, IL not Lake Park. All teachers need to be evaluated before they going into the field of teaching. Being a High School teacher is a hard postion and many are not tolerant or compassionate.

So, they should have chose another type of Career.

That is ridiculously high living costs if you struggle on $70,000. If they truly aren't living beyond their means then that's a sad situation.

I'm quite comfortable on less than 70.000 with my own home and having raised four kids in Crook County. But pride and greed always overshadows reason and necessity!
