Hm, where do I start? Not sure what to say by way of introducing myself, but I'll start with the following:
I've been saved over 16 yrs. now and it's been an amazing journey complete with the joys & sorrows, ups and downs, and seasons atop the mountain as well as flat-on-my-face-in-the-valley times. Looking back, I can see some of what God was teaching me, as well as His performing the necessary pruning and refining that He continues to do today :)
I'm far from perfect, and I'm thankful that God knows this about me and still pursues me when I'm faithful to Him and even when I haven't been. Yet, I also know and tremble at knowing that I am to strive to be holy as He is holy, which I try to do with His help.
I have two grown children who, by God's grace, are beginning to work through issues of an absentee father and rejection. This has been at great cost for all of us, as their response was deep hurt and anger which they lashed out at the world with. I never thought I'd ever receive calls from police, attend court hearings, and more. But God covered us with His grace, shielding my sons from even worse scenarios, and established in me a remarkably deep and abiding faith in Him. He filled my heart with His unconditional love and great compassion to love my children with, many times when the burden was so great I wanted to walk away.
I came on this site hoping to share with other Christians, particularly those who've experienced something similar, or have family members who've walked a similar path. However, I also know from experience that a mature believer in Christ who has been blessed by our Father with spiritual gifts of compassion, discernment, wisdom and grace are just as much of a blessing for parents like myself :) Furthermore, I believe that when one part of the body of Christ is hurting, the whole body is affected. We need to be able to share honestly for our personal help, but equally also for the benefit and growth of brothers and sisters in Christ who might not otherwise delve into issues such as mine with any real depth.
The fact that this is a dating site for Christians doesn't escape me, but it's hard to find places for single believers that are of quality, as this site appears to be. Sorry this is not light and fluffy (not saying that derogatively!)...I do have a great sense of humour and, praise God, can find hope in some pretty challenging circumstances :peace::bow:
