Fortunately, in many cases, scammers can be discerned fairly easily (at least in my experience). Don't let your wishes or desires deceive you. If something doesn't feel right, don't rationalize that feeling away. Start reading between the lines of whatever they write to you. If they're foreign, their english will be broken or awkward. Good news for us is that they're too stupid to see it, and so think that they're spot-on with their grammar and spelling. Scammers also tend to want you to get offline quickly, so they'll give some lame reasoning like, "I dont like chatting here lets get to know each other more on my phone ###-###-####..." (My substandard grammar was deliberate -- that is what they do, and oftentimes it's worse.) They will flatter you. "I really like your profile you have an interesting profile..." Can you say 'profile' enough? Idiots. And, what is so interesting about it?? I am often called "handsome" or "baby" right off the bat. Dead giveaway. Hope this helps. Post Reply
