Hello from yet another Iowan. I'm Teri. I'm 49. I live in Red Oak and have lived all my life in SW Iowa. I've been single longer than I was married. Now that my children are grown I really feel the desire to be with someone I'm not "in charge" of you know? If you read another thread you'll see that I've had to be "in charge" a long time or at least I thought I did. I'm ready to explore other avenues and would like to meet a strong, Godly man who takes his walk with his Father very seriously. Not only would that be wonderful but it would also be my heart's desire come true if he would be more versed in scripture to help me as I study and help me understand the God breathed words of God. I guess I'm looking for a friend, mentor, partner and maybe even a teacher. At 49 my walk with Christ is still in it's "pre-school" phase. I have much to learn. Would anyone like to help?

Don't worry Terri, we all have a lot to learn. I was saved when I was thirty, went to Bible college, was a member of a Bible preaching church (that's another story), taught Sunday school, the list goes on an on, yet when I hit rock bottom I walked away from God or at least I thought I did. As long as our heart is teachable then we will continue to learn.

well said, prairiewriter, we are all learning. He is working on us unto perfection.

You know, Teri, I dont want to give up my learner's permit as well. I love HIM being the pilot and I know I cant do the navigation on my own. That makes 100% dependence on my father sooo assuring!!!

Welcome aboard sis! Fasten your seat belt and enjoy the ride with daddy!

It is so hard not to be a backseat driver too! Just today God firmly and strongly put His foot down and told me in no uncertain words "Teri, keep you nose out of other people's business!" I was going to send and email on behalf of my daughters to their father and "accidentally" deleted it? Accident? Maybe. Devine intervention? PROBABLY! :applause: Sometimes I'm still that little two year old who says "I can do it mine own self!" and then falls flat on my face. God picks me up, brushes me off and then starts me all over again.:yay:

You two who are from Iowa - have you ever heard of Hinton, IA? It's a small town between Sioux City and LeMars - I used to live there, just a random fact :) Oh, and LeMars is considered the "Ice-cream capital of the world" because the Well's Blue Bunny ice-cream factory is there. And I highly recommend their ice-cream! Great family too - I knew them for a while.

I'm surprised Prairiewriter didn't answer this since he lives in the ice cream capitol. I have never heard of the town, sorry. How long did you live there. I'm originally from Villisca myself. Bet you've never heard of that. That is, unless you are into axe murder history. Don't be scared. It happened back in 1913. I "jokingly" refer to it as the axe murder capitol of Iowa. We have a person in town who has capitalized on it by restoring the house and charging admission for visitors and even let's people stay over night in it...for a fee. I wish I could say my hometown was famous, not infamous. But I am still proud of my family heritage and I have visited the graves of the seven people slain that dark night many years ago. My parents still live in Villisca and I visit them a lot. I told my dad as soon as the guy puts a sign out on the highway that says "Villisca Axe Murder Capital of Iowa" I will not be coming back! Anyway hope you are enjoying the forums.
