It can be annoying then you keep getting emails from these people, who may not even be the person in the picture. I kind of imagine a guy in his basement, who has some pictures of women that he knows and takes their pictures and post them on here. Thus, stealing the picture and may even be using the know of that poor young woman. It may even be a woman that performs these romance scams.

I have my problems finding someone on here, but I am well aware of these things. I am not going to say anything that they say in the emails, but they pretty much do the same things.

I don't believe they even look at the profile, just the picture, or a few lines. Oh, he looks easy I will try to scam him. One thing I began to do is question why they want off the site, and do they know this site if free. I wonder how many others get more scams then emails of interest.

God bless,

JG

I get alot of them! Its fairly easy to spot them! I just report them and poof they disappear. Its not just the free sites either! Somehow they in to the paid sites as well. Please dont stay discouraged!! The enemy lurks everywhere we go to try to steal our joy but God says no weapon formed against us will prosper. He didnt say that the weapons wont come!

May God provide the gal who is just perfect for you brother!! In Jesus name I pray. Amen:angel:

I can remember hearing from my first scammer. He was very handsome and had pictures of himself outdoors on a safari. I really wanted the adventurous type of man too. His emails were full of mispelled words and poor grammar and punctuation yet I overlooked those things because he was telling me how beautiful and kind I was. I had been in a horrible, abusive marriage for 7 years and those kind words were like honey. I didn't suspect anything until he asked for money. He was working in a foreign country and his mother was visiting, she became ill and needed assistance to fly back to U.S. right away for medical attention. Needless to say, I didn't have any money. I had spent my money on joining that website (match.com) and getting professional photos done for the website, and also the new clothes. But God opened my eyes, and I saw that this man was a scammer! Praise Him for revealing the truth.

Thanks for sharing. I remember one who claimed to be a missionary in Africa. The first time I ever emailed one of these people they would always want to see pictures. Often I would ask them to tell me about their relationship with Jesus, but like clock work they just email questions about me without even saying anything about Jesus. Once I even asked on this site, "What missionary group are you with?" Of course no missionary group. We all should pay attention to who emails us. I just wish I had real ladies to communicate with, and not these people.

God bless,

JG

90 % of my messages are from scammers. I also can tell by the content of the message. I guess I look easy too!

It can be discouraging when you receive 90% of your messages come from scammers. I can relate to it. In general I do believe that they think Christians are easy targets. They look for Christians that are lonely and try to get on their emotions. They think that they will get Christian singles to send them everything they have in their bank accounts. Scammers get over 100 thousand dollars from people every year. I sometimes wonder about those who fall for it. I guess when someone thinks he or she is in love it can make people do stupid things.

Hi,

I agree with you. It is so discouraging when you are so genuinely looking for someone to share your life with after a bad experience, only to meet someone who is looking to play games or better still scheming.

I have had a couple of people do that to me that I now feel like giving up on these dating sites.

I know there are Good, Respecful and Sincere people out there looking for true love, but the Scammers are making it a not so nice experience for them.

I've been on CDFF for awhile, but neither found anyone nor realized this message board was here, so I'm new to it today.

I've been scammed numerous times, both at a couple other places and a bit here. I now know signs to look for. Just today I reported about 5 moderate to highly suspicious "women".

What's surprising to me now is to learn that they target women too. I thought it was always African black males posing as white young females wanting older men. I particular am prone to receive these as I'm a guy who's been single longer than average and am wishing for and praying for a younger wife (so as to have children in His timing).

I'm so sorry they are emotional raping you women, too. I guess their greed knows no bounds.

If I get hit again and it progresses, I will do two things that will help nail "him". Firstly (and I've done it before), I ask them what they think of my testimony that I've published at my own website. (I have that advantage.)

http://www.tomsgoodfiles.com/toms-conversion.htm

When they click, it leaves a log record that I as webmaster can get to. When I see "toms-conversion" being hit in Nigeria or Malaysia, I know it's likely a scam (unless they SAY they're in that country).

But the final thing I would try, which I have gotten far enough along to attempt, is to get them to talk via webcam! Obviously, they will drop out before that point!

Let us accept that a free site like this will attract more of them than other places, and be on the look out. I've talked on phone to another site (not a chr. one; oh a Chr. one also I remember now). They all are very concerned and appreciate our reports. They also have tools to check things, more than just our own suspicions. (Some are like my web log.)

Every good thing can be abused, and these Chr. dating places are no exception.

Tom,

I was as surprised as you that scammers target men. I thought they just targeted women! LOL!

I also share with you the desire to find someone with a younger mindset. Although I'm no longer interested in birthing children (I'm into the grandchildren blessing era), I am a school teacher and work with children everyday. Thus, I'm not opposed to becoming a stepmom (there's always enough love to go around). It's hard to find someone my age who isn't coasting into retirement when I find that my career is actually just getting started!

Tom, Thanks for your help in trying to keep these sites scam-free. I'm not very tech savy, so I'm more than likely an easy target. I wish I knew what I could do to help. I'm so tired of getting messages from scammers! As soon as I tell them I'm not giving out my info, they stop writing, so I know they are scammers. God Bless You! :peace:
