Hello, my name is David. I have been here for about a month. I covered my self pretty well in my profile. I'd like to add that I am enjoying the forums and may be making friends there. In some cases they are allies and hopefully not enemies!!

It was suggested to me by a member here that I be up front about my beliefs because others may need to be aware of them. Here are a few things about me that are not on my profile or you would have to be in the forums to know. I was raised a Dispensationalistic (probably not a word, but sounds like communistic or socialistic or something evil anyway), Conservative Baptist but I am not a Dispensationalist nor a Baptist. I also don't fully agree with the Preterists either. I might be a Moderate Preterist if anything but they would reject me. I was born again in March 1995 and I prefer to refer to myself as a follower of the Christ, Jesus, rather than a Christian because I do not adhere to all of the non-Biblical practices of the Christian religion. The most extremely different view I may have is that I do not believe the New Testament, with the exception of the four Gospels and Revelation, is Scripture, that is, the inerrant, inspired Word of God. The reason for this is that in all 52 references to Scripture in the New Testament it is referring to the Law and Prophets of the Old Testament. What's more, at the time the letters of the New Testament were being written and the Scriptures were mentioned, the New Testament did not exist. In fact it did not exist as we know it until the Counsels of Nicea the first of which was in 325 AD. Furthermore, I believe the leaders of the Catholic Church chose writings to fit their ideas of what the Church should teach rather than allow differing views or perhaps better, or more accurate writings into the New Testament. We have 27 books in the New testament but there are hundreds of other Christian writings that were left out. The Old Testament did not receive the same treatment and is far more complete. I will use the New Testament for the sake of argument because it is widely recognized as Scripture by the Church.

I want to know the Truth and believe it comes from the teaching of the Holy Spirit through the Scriptures, prayer and meditation. I believe the Bible interprets itself and that is the only reliable form of hermaneutics I know of. I believe anyone can be a Christian as much as they can be in any other religion. A statement of faith in God does not make you a Christian. It makes you a believer in God.

Christianity is a religion that Jesus did not come her to create. It is the result of the Apostle Paul's work and was passed on to Constantine and eventually the Bishops at Nicea. The Protestants have not moved nearly far enough away from the Catholic Church and probably never will and so even though they may have begun to break off from it they still pay homage to the Pope by sharing in the common practices and sacraments of the Catholic Church. I have studied the religions of Buddhism and Hinduism as well as those of the Utes, Pueblo, Cheyenne and Cherokee. Finally, I do believe in the Apostle's creed as follows:

I believe in God, the Father Almighty,

maker of heaven and earth.

And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,

who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,

born of the virgin Mary,

suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, died and was buried.

He descended into hell.

On the third day He rose again from the dead.

He ascended into heaven

and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.

From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Ghost,

the communion of saints,

the forgiveness of sins,

the resurrection of the body,

and the life everlasting. Amen

If by chance you want to know more please send me an email. Blessings to all of you. Peace and joy in the Lord.
