Be aware that people view you in still picture mode not in video mode

Hello all of you seekers and those being sought. Remember this from the words of a thinking photographer. People do not view you and your life in video like you do. You see a video gives you lots of information. It tells you what to think. Whereas a still picture freezes the frame and captures a moment of time. It leaves a lot to the imagination. So one person looks in the eyes and sees beauty, another person sees wisdom, and another love. So when people look at you they can not just keep staring that is rude. So that sub consiously take a still photo of you use it to make decision about who you are, what you do, how you act, and where you are going. They make these decisions based on their view point not yours. They look at your life through their lens not yours. WAKE UP THAT IS HOW THE WORLD WORKS. Life is not fair. So in order to win you must show them the truth about you. Show them that you have it together, that you are cool, that you are confident, that you are successful, with your dress, your smile, your hair, and your demeanor. So look at your pictures and see what they are saying. Remember a picture is truly worth a thousand words.

Cattleman you better preach! :applause:

Maybe because you are a man, he will receive it from you.

But just in case he's right, I'll be here working on my image, losing weight so I can get me a 'fine' man too. :eat:

Pluc! Where you at man? They're ganging up on us!

This is turning into another Westside Story up in here.

You're right Ole Cattle, we are all beautiful. God didn't make ugly! I don't fault anyone for their looks. Heaven knows I'm the last one who should do so.

If'n all you have is overalls and you want to go to church, you're more than welcome to sit by me.

As far as tattoos, piercings, etc.., I strongly believe in 1 Corinthians 3:16-17: Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are (KJV)

My father was an Army vet and got numerous tatoos as a youth, scared and a long way from home. I do not believe these tatoos kept him from getting into Heaven. But I do believe these tatoos were a source of embarrassment for him when he matured. I'm sure they also led people to judge him because of his outward appearance and made it more difficult to be a better witness for God.

Also, since your body is a temple of God, you should do your best to make it shine, inside and outside. If the prettiest, most spectaclular church looked beautiful on the outside but dirty and dingy, and foul inside, what does that say about the congregation, the minister? Likewise, if it was beautiful on the inside, adorned with the finest mahogany pews, alabaster sculptures, flowers everywhere, but the outside had grafitti all over it, weeds and vines everywhere, that's no better either. No one would see how beautiful it was inside because they would be too afraid to enter.

Which is to say, if you have a beautiful heart, full of love and compassion, but you camouflage it with sloppy clothes, tatoos, dirty stinky body and nappy hair, no one is going to want to get close enough to you to know how wonderful you really are.

I have kept out of the fray until now. But cannot be silent. Wasn't the Pharasees who judged on appearance and stature in the church. Yet it was the Samaritan who helped out those in need. If we cannot as the body of Christ look past outer appearances such as tatoos or piecsings thne we are in trouble. As I stated earlier many times people get those markings before they are saved. Should they be judged in God's house when Jesus has made them new. Absolutely NOT. I have nephews with tatooed and if they walked into a church with jeans and fell down at the alter I would be praising God because they were there not delivering a lecture on their tatoos or piercings. People need to be lifted up not reminded of their past. As I said in Christ all things are forgotten and thrown as far as the east is from the west Also some women carry deep wounds from hurtful remarks. Labels Do hurt and matter and we as God's children should be careful. Take care and God bless

Also what if the man with the piecings and tatoos can reach into a dark place because he looks similar to the lost soul. What about the man that goes to such a dark place that he gets these makings because it is the way to get love and acceptance nooone gave him as a young man. What of the young girl who received inappropriate attention puts on weght to make herself less appealing to men so she can disappear. Or the woman who got the same kind unwelcomed attention as a girl thinks the only way she can get attention is through her looks not because she is lovable. I know these people and have seen them.....some are still in my life. They cry out for someone to love them We need to get real here. There are lost souls who are crying out to be loved. We must have the heart, mind, eyes, hands and feet of Christ. We must be the most Christlike when choosing a mate. Looks fade and are lost, weight is lost and gained but true beauty is the kind that is deep and lasting. Thanks for listening

Uh,oh! I hear people snapping their fingers and working on their dance steps!

I got rythm too!

That was a good comparisom. Pharisees.

The Pharisees were members of a very self-righteous, sanctimonious political group who were very ethnocentric; that is, they thought they were "it", they looked down on everyone else. Jesus condemned them for going out into the town square and --yes, Mrs. River, they adorned themselves in the finest garments and looked down on everyone else, particularly the Sadducees--but they were admonished for going into the public square and praying as loudly as they could, tearing their clothes, trying to draw attention to themselves. Jesus told them to be quiet and go pray in a closet.

Which is to also say, as I was clumsily trying to explain earlier, you can be very beautiful, wear the best clothes, the finest accessories, and be a jerk on the inside.

You can also be -shall I dare say, without riling Ms. Babygirl, average looking-(I did not say you were average looking, Ms. Babygirl!) your appearance camouflaged by nasty, sloppy clothes, your body smelling like dead feet, tattoos all over you-and no one is going to want to get close enough to you to discover how wonderful you are on the inside.-Like the church covered in vines. All I'm saying is clean yourself up. Make yourself glow! work with what God gave you!

Yes, there are those poor souls who are down and out, been treated badly, desperately searching for answers. Help them!

After they get their help and feel better about themselves, realize people do care, that God loves all of us; what's wrong with making yourself shine then?

Sorry Edw, Christ already makes me shine. Nothing I can do will make a bit of difference. (i do wash, brush my teeth, comb my hair and don't smell like last weeks socks). :ribbit: That being said some that you would turn away from may reach those in the same place they were before Christ saved them. There are those in prison ministry who have all of the markings of their former life but are new men through Chist. They go back an minister in prison and are highly successful at it. God uses people as they are tatoos. Maybe a sunday best could not reach to that segment of society. We should applaud him for reaching lost souls not villify him for his appearance. Maybe it is the radical appearacne that reaches the unreachable soul....well must go cant wait to see the repllies to this

Well, don't know whether I'm a member of the sharks or the jets but I'm not giving up this easily.

As I stated, work with what God gave you. Make an effort. Yes, you already shine because you have Christ in your heart, but reflect it on the outside as well. I didn't say you had to lose weight or get a weave, but let others see the Christ in You.

If I'm biggoted because I want to look nice, if I expect others to as well-(The ones who can) so be it. I never said I looked down on them. If God finds a use for those people, that's good too. But how many people out there covered in ink do so to get closer to God? How many of those do so to witness to others? I'm getting "ghetto" now but stink attacts only flies. Those people covered in tats and ratty clothes only attract others of the same culture. Yes, they can use it in a positive manner to witness to those like themselves. Hurrah!

This is just like how the rednecks down here argue for the dry law to be amended by saying."Wellp, they're gonna buy it somewhere, why not here!" It still don't make it right no matter how you slice it.

That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

God bless you for sticking up for what you believe in. Just guess we are going to agree to disagree.

Ok I have to work sometimes but I had to chime it. Edw you the man again your descriptions about the church were right online with my thoughts. Christian people often get so hung up on the heart that they forget about the outer appearance. All my life I did that I worked on my character, my heart, my walk with Christ. It was and is still the mos valuable thing to me. But the people in world could not see that because they were looking at my dirty run over shoes!!! I lost business because I was only thinking about the inside and did not give any consideration to outer appearance. So now I have my priorities straight. My character, integreity, first, and my appearance is a far distance second place. But I know that if I want to influence the world I have to so them what they want to see so I can get close enough to give them the word. WAKE UP PEOPLE!!! The world is looking at us through their lens not ours.
