Going to Movies Alone - Do You Do It?

How many of you do it and what have you felt about it? Is it similar to dining alone or other activities done alone as a single?

I have thought about going to the movies alone as a date with God, but I haven't done it yet.

Hi,

You know, I may have only gone once or twice before. I have to say I enjoy it a whole lot. Dining alone is kind of weird to me, at least at restaurants..... the moment you walk in the door the host (or hostess) says "table for 2?" then the waiter/ress asks "are you waiting on anyone?" and then people glance at you and have that look of pity mixed with wonder.... did she get stood up? Bleh. No thank you. I don't go out alone to be noticed.

However, movie time is so different. You enter, take your seat, lights dim down, and suddenly you and everyone else partakes in the entertainment you all paid too much for. AWESOME.

Now, I must admit, I've never gone to a "new" movie alone, one of those which had a full house. Usually the theater was pretty empty. Like I said, loved it. :)

Yes, I do go to the movies alone. I enjoy it! Usually though, I select times when it's not the busiest period where the house is full. Sometimes when I go with groups or another person, I can miss something in the movie, if they want to comment on something during the movie.

Not similar at all to dining alone. I enjoy dining alone too if I dont have company. I find that everytime I eat out alone, somebody always strikes up a small conversation with me. Not all the time while I'm eating, but the waiter/waitress will converse with me, or depending on the resturant, others will talk with me about something. A lot of times during the week, I'll eat lunch out alone, and if I'm wasting time, I'll bring something to read with me. Especially when I go to a cafeteria. ~ GraceMae

I use to go alone quite a bit then my nieces started going with me. Nowadays, i don't have to but I find myself missing it. It's something therapetic about being alone and enjoying yourself. You don't have to make small talk and deal with people talking during the movie. I've only ever dined alone once or twice a long time ago. That doesn't feel like fun to me.

Okay, I've done it. Not ashamed of it too as there's a method to my madness..

Morning sessions, with virtually the whole theater to myself, the pick of any seat in the house, lying back, feet up & thoroughly relaxed, watching a blockbuster action/ sci/fi with no distractions, simply can't be beat.

I have done so, yes. Let's see. I saw the new Shrek at a theatre, then Superman Returns a few years before that. Depends on my mood and the movie.

Of course, I probably would rather go to a drive-in then a theatre, although if that was the only choice I had..

Going to the drive-in is like going back into time, even if for a few hours. You can still be alone, but you may not feel alone, if you know what I am referring to. Besides, it is nice to be able to sit in the outdoors, and, if the movie stinks (which some of them have), look at the stars.

I did that once. It doesn't really matter if someone is with you or not when it comes to movies because u don't really pay attention to the people with you anyway. Well, unless they're a date. lol

Yes, I have gone alone. However, it is more fun with one or more other people. :goofball:
