I found this article and thought it very important to share, because it gives out a serious warning and confirms what Jesus has also warned all Christnas about in the Gospels, and Paul speaks these same warnings to us throughout his writings. It is a very DANGEROUS THING to go beyond what God has already written in His word for us to know...

THE DEEP THINGS OF SATAN by Harry Bethel BethelMinistries.com

Anyone who rejects these clear scriptural truths is irrational, delusional and probably demonized. (Delusional: A false belief strongly held in spite of invalidating evidence, especially as a symptom of mental illness.) God commanded Adam, "From any tree of the garden you may eat freely; but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you will surely die [spiritually]" (Genesis 2:16-17).

Since Eve disobeyed her husband who warned her not to eat of the forbidden fruit, and not to even touch it, and since Adam disobeyed God from whom he received the command and warning, all mankind has been conceived in the womb spiritually dead (except the Man Christ Jesus, who was not born of the seed of Adam).

In Revelation 2:24 Jesus warned the Christians in Thyatira about the "deep things of Satan." He spoke in a commendable way to the ones who had not learned the occult or hidden truths of the devil.

Today, in the unprecedented apostasy of true Christians, many Christian charlatans are merchandising many of the "deep things of Satan," and many Christians, contrary to God's warnings, gobble up these books and videos that supposedly inform people concerning occult symbols, practices, prophecies, date settings, ad nauseam.

The curiosity of true Christians is being aroused by the piquant writings and teachings of Christians and non-Christians who are perceived as being "scholars" or "experts" in the field of the occult, cults and false religions. There is a significant market for the "deep things of Satan," and true Christians are more than willing to spend the Lord's money (of which they are stewards) on this stuff that brings glory, not to Jesus, but to the deceiver and archenemy of our souls. Most Christians are so lacking in discernment that they have no clue about what is really happening, neither the Christian huckster-author-producer of these intriguing teachings nor the many who have cultivated an appetite for them. It is because of this lack of discernment that such a lucrative market is created by the demand for such books, videos, lectures, etc.

Sad to say, many Christians are much more inquisitive about the "deep things of Satan" than they are the "deep things of God" (1 Corinthians 2:10 KJV). What happens is that God gives them the desires of their heart, but sends leanness to their souls. They are "spiritually impotent", in part, because they are seeking to satisfy their curiosity for the knowledge of evil. Like Eve, who was deceived by the subtle tactics of Satan, Christians think they are missing out on something. Many try to skirt the warnings by essentially saying, "But Lord, can't I just take a bite and taste of the forbidden fruit and spit it out without eating it? Or perhaps I could just let it pass over my tongue it? Or, Lord, maybe I could just smell of it?" If the Christians who produce all the wares of the "deep things of Satan" became a disciple (learner) of Jesus, and spent as much time studying the Word of God as they do researching the occult, cults, false religions, meanings of symbols on currency, on buildings, ad nauseam, they would be immeasurably and eternally better off than any monetary remuneration, satisfaction of their curiosity, or being esteemed as an "expert" on the occult, etc.

Likewise, Christians who have an appetite for such things would be immensely better off if they would repent, become a learner (disciple) of Jesus and spend time searching the "deep things of God."

The apostasy of true Christians is so great in these last days that they do not even suspect that there is anything wrong with bringing into their residence pictures of things pertaining to the occult, etc., such as those published in Bible dictionaries, study Bibles, commentaries, etc. Even this paragraph would be considered absurd by the overwhelming majority of true Christians today. (It is not within the scope of this article to give an exhaustive treatment of the subject, nor all the scriptural reasons for heeding the truths presented herein.

More than enough truth is presented to convince any true Christian who has "ears to hear." For those who are not hereby convinced, an exhaustive thousand-page book would not convince them either. This applies especially to those who would try to defend their position of in-depth study of the occult, cults, false religions and the publication of research by using isolated Scripture verses taken out of context, such as Ephesians 5:11, without considering many other verses such as Ephesians 5:12, 1 Thessalonians 5:22, et al.)

God's way and desire for His people is not to study the teachings and symbolism of the occult and cults, but rather to immerse oneself in the truths of His Word and apply to their life the truths therein.

We do not need to know details of occult teachings, cults, or false religions in order to protect ourselves from being deceived by false teaching, nor to prepare us for the inevitable New World Order, nor for any other reason.

If a Christian learns the truths of God's Word, and thereby becomes discerning, even if they do not have the spiritual gift of discernment, they will be able to quickly detect false teaching (doctrines of demons) when they are presented. God's way of detecting counterfeits or the false is to become very familiar with the genuine or the truth.

When one is filled with the truth, the false becomes obvious without having to know all the details of it. "Be wise in what is good and innocent in what is evil" (Romans 16:19).

I have in my possession a copy of the late Dr. Walter Martin's book "Kingdom of the Cults." I think I bought it as a young mother so I could become familiar with all that was out there that my children might be exposed to. How could I dissuade them if I wasn't even aware of the core beliefs of cults in existence? I am comforted that I chose this book. I have been educated by those much more scholared than myself to be able to pass on insight about many cults, and not just to my 3 children. Praise God there is "ammo" out there for us to fend off the attacks of the enemy. Those who have faith, maturity, and leading to have researched cults, other religions, and false "Christian" teachings have allowed those of us me) who wouldn't even know where to start be more equipped to learn what is out there. I had to "learn" to discern, but having information already gathered made it easier for me to do so. There are some who just are more Spiritually mature and prepared than others.

Totally agree with ya, Ridley. I have the same book by Martin and the Handbook of Today's Religions by Josh McDowell & Don Stewart [which is very good as well]. I think it's important that we know and understand what certain cults and religions believe. It becomes a necessary tool in witnessing to those into various cults/religions; otherwise you can't really show them where their religions go wrong. Sometimes details are important.

I'm not worried about being deceived by false teachings. I know Jesus fills and protects my every being. It's those who are already deceived by false teachings/religions/cults I'm worried about. And how does one approach them without having an understanding of what it is they believe? You can't. That would be like teaching Spanish without knowing the language.

If you're evangelising then you DO need to know the differences between what we believe and what other religions teach. This is because so many people think we're all worshipping the same God but in different ways, so it doesn't matter which religion they choose.

Others, such as muslims, believe IN Jesus (as opposed to ON Jesus) and claim to be serving the same God. If you don't know what islam teaches (and more importantly, what the bible teaches), then how can you counter effectively?

Having said that, the law commanded the Israelites not to enquire of other religions and how they serve their gods because they might be led astray, nor should the names of any foreign gods be found on our lips - so I can understand the message posted by the OP.

Be careful out there folks, it's a real battle and we are called to be as wise as serpents yet remain as innocent as doves...

I thought I would check out Harry Bethel and BethelMinistries online.

First off, he seems to have a heart concerning those who are listening to Harold Camping.

However this was quite disturbing to me. This is taken from his bio on his website: (Incidentally, Harry does not believe it is God's perfect will for Christians to attend public schools, including colleges and universities. The same is true with so-called Christian schools, Bible colleges and seminaries because of the great apostasy of these last days. Relatively few Christians have the discernment or wisdom to see the veracity of this.)

Wow! I work in a public school! Two of my children graduated from the public school system here in Princeton. There are pastors' kids in the school system here.

THEN I came upon this from the website: Big-Time Accountability

Why do you allow your pastor to teach you, your wife and your children false doctrines (doctrines of demons)? Don't you know that you will have to account to Jesus Christ on the Day of Judgment for what you allow your pastor to teach you and your family?

The Pastor Phenomenon

Many Christians agree that God did not send any woman to be a pastor. What most Christians don't realize is that God did not send any man on this planet to be a pastor, either. If any man says that God sent him to be a pastor he is lying, deceived, deluded, or all three. The truths presented in this profound article irrefutably prove this. After reading these truths it would be irrational for anyone to think that his or her pastor was sent by God to be a pastor. Now, what are YOU going to do?

WOW! again. This is written as if only a husband/male would be reading? ("Why would you allow your pastor to teach you, your wife, and your children...?) I think I will just stick to my churches (Zarephath Christian Church and Westerly Road Church), pray for my pastors and their staff, and acknowledge I am not a true Christian according to Harry Bethel.

ET, thank you for posting the article and source. This is how I learn about what is beyond my comfort zone.

Thank you, Grace, for the well-wishes.

I am not sure I understand what you are asking me. You seem to have a great deal of knowledge of him based on what you wrote in March in the "If there IS a pre-trib rapture..."

I see, Josh McDowell I have not read any of his books, but I use to watch him on TBN a lot when he use to come on there often.

And I still have never heard of Harold Camping out side of what is written of him online?... I read Harry Bethel articles just to see what he is up too every now and then, but not as a habit to reserch... Oh, wait a minute, I have heard of this Camping, I think there was a thread running on another site i am on about his prediction...ok.

Some of the ministries I seriously follow are Dr. Charles Stanles, and David Jereimiah, TD Jakes, and a few others, and my favortie radio ministry is Dr. Charles Swindoll and a few others and read the books they have written and other stuffs... I find them to be spiritually sound in their preaching and teaching of the word...

"If Jesus returns in May, I get I had better get my dry cleaning out of the cleaners..."

Now THAT is funny!

Dr. Walter Martin used to be called "The Bible Answer Man" back in the 70's and 80's I believe. I found him to be very helpful in my early years as a believer. I was so very naive about being a Christian and cults. So when I discovered him on the radio, I learned a lot about what I needed to learn. The book "Kingdom of the Cults" is just an excellent book that explained the core beliefs of, for example, Christian Science, Mormonism, Armstrongism, and Scientology and Rev. Sun Myung Moon which were both coming into the public arena in the early 70's.

As far as Harold Camping goes...the fact that he feels all churches are apostate is enough of a red flag for me!

I also appreciate Dr. Charles Stanley. I have recently discovered Andy Stanley. When my daughter was in college in VA., she was attending Thomas Road Baptist Church. I had a chance to hear Jonathan Falwell. I enjoyed him very much also. NOTHING like his father...

Thanks. I'll have to go in search of the book.

I love Charles Stanley, I have been listening to him first by radio since 1982, until he came on TV some years ago.

It really did hurt me when his wife left him, and Andy left and started his church, what a sad time, but God was good to him and he held up until the end.

I'm not too keen on Andy's teachings... I don't know, it may be because I still haven't totally forgiven him for forsaking his father during his parents divorce, and starting his own church or what... he's good teacher, but can't top his dad.

I'm not familar with Jonthan, is this Jerry Farwell's son? If so, I didn't care that much for Jerry Farwell (his dad) although he did have some good messages...
