Sons of God According to Whose Report? God's or Man...

There are those who think the meaning of the phrase "sons of God" is always referred to in the Bible as speaking about angels. This is an untruth according to what God has to say in His word.
I, along with many sound Christian scholars and other believers contend that this phrase "SON OF GOD" does NOT refer to angels as in Genesis chpater 6 it refers to and speaks about men who are believers, holy men of God.
And is what God calls ALL His children, and is who we are in Christ as BELIEVERS, saints, children of God, sons and daughters of God. Believers who know God, and have come to know Jesus Christ as their personal Savior, men servants of God "SONS OF GOD" whether die or alive, sons of God" is to mean being sons and daughters of God, children of God. If you believe otherwise, that's your own personal belief, my belief is based upon what God has to say in His word, not my word nor your word, but GOD'S WORD OF TRUTH..
This is what God has to say in His Word of Truth about SONS OF GOD and see if God is speaking about angels or earthly men:
"Jesus came to His own people, and His own people did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave power to become "THE SONS OF GOD", even to those who believed on Hi name." John chapter 1
"Do all things without murmurings and disputings, so that you may be blamsless and harmless, 'THE SONS OF GOD" without rebuke in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation among whom you shine as light in the world." Philippins chapter 2
"Beloved, what manner of love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called 'THE SONS OF GOD" therefore, the world does not know us, because it did not know Him (Jesus). Beloved, we are now 'THE SONS OF GOD, and it does not yet appear what we will be but we know this that, when He (Jesus) shall appear we will be like HIm for we shall see Him as He is." I John chapter 3.
"For if you live according to the flesh, you will die. But if you through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, you will live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, "THEY ARE THE SONS OF GOD". For you have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption whereby we cry Abba Father. The Spirit itself bers witness with our spirit, that we are CHILDRE OF GOD. And if Children of God, then heirs, and if heirs of God,a nd joint heirs with Christ, if so be that we suffer with Him, so that we may be also glorified together... For the earnest expectation of the creation waits for the SONS OF GOD TO BE MADE KNOWN, because the creature (earthly animals) was made subject to vanity, not willingly but by reason of God who has subjected the same hope, because the creature itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption to the glorious freedom the same as THE CHILDREN OF GOD." Romans chapter 8.
God has spoken and the choice is yours to believe and know the spiritual difference, or reject what is written to suit your own interpretation and imagination.

This topic has been very interesting. I have not had a chance to ask anyone in person their thoughts, but I found a lot of info online. Three sites stuck out for me. In these three sites I found some things in common and contrary. I would like to share some quotes, and then share what I feel. Please note I only bring here a few quotes that had an impact on me. There is so much interesting commentary and Scripture quoted. I prayerfully hope people will read my snippets, and then read the rest for themselves. If I posted everything, I think I would lose readers.
Under CreationHistory.com "Angels Marry Women?" I read, "There are two basic and contrasting lines of thought..." with a heading "The 'Sons of God' Seen as Fallen Angels." Job 2:1 and Job 38:7 are the Scripture used as reference.
Under "The Alternate View" sub-heading " How Does the Bible Interpret the Phrase 'Sons of God?' I read, '... where angels are called "sons of God," it is important to notice that only the righteous angels are the "sons of God." ' 'And in the New Testament there are many examples of believers reckoned as God's children, His sons. For example: "You [both the Jews and Gentile believers] are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus..." Gal 3:26
Then I found www.rationalchristianity.net. 'First, who are the "sons of God" and the "Nephilim"? There are three proposed interpretations:
1."Sons of God" refers to fallen angels who lived on earth and married human women. The Nephilim are giants of extra-human strength who were the offspring of these marriages.
2."Sons of God" refers to descendents of Seth, who were godly men who sinned by marrying descendents of Cain, who would have been pagans. The Nephilim were simply "heroes", not giants, and may or may not have been the offspring of the mixed marriages.
3."Sons of God" is better translated as "kings" or "sons of nobles" and "Nephilim" is best translated as "princes" or "great men." That is, the "sons of God" were royalty or aristocrats who were generally immoral and married common women, possibly against their will or despite their already being married.'
Third was www.cbn.com. "The Nephilim-Children of Demons: Spiritual Life in God." (Just for the record, I am very far from being a fan of Pat Robertson's, but I wanted to be as objective as I could be. The info provided is not from him but from the CBN.com Ministries Director.) "A viewer writes:
I have questions regarding "the sons of God" and giants from Genesis 6. Some Bible teachers believe that angels took the form of flesh (actual incarnation) to engender offspring with women, thus "Giants" came into being (Nephilim). What do you believe?
This theological position from Genesis 6 is common -- that fallen angels had sex with humans to create a race of giants --but I don't subscribe to it." "A key of biblical interpretation is to allow the Scripture to interpret itself. People fall into error when they try to make the Bible say something to fit their particular doctrinal position when the text does not say it. In this case, the text simply says 'sons of God', which is a designation for humans. There is nowhere in the Bible where demons are called 'sons', and especially not 'sons of God.' "
What I got from just these three sites is these are interpretations, lines of thought, and positions...all based on Scripture by people, scholars, theologians who, it seems, disagree at times. DISAGREE without any name-calling, disrespect, or hateful language.
The Lord gave us brains to use. Any time we are curious and we consult the Bible, God must be pleased with us. We are looking to "THE WORD" for answers. We may come up with different interpretations. We should definitely be cautious concerning origin, but why does someone who disagrees with me have to necessarily be wrong? B-O-R-I-N-G would be everyone nodding their heads in agreement to everything they read or hear!
Finally, I realized that OT and NT words could have double-meanings...kind of like modern English compered to older English. Just think of words that we use now that had a whole different meaning when our parents were young. If the "experts" cannot form a consensus and agree, why do we have to?

Beautiful post Lisa:applause:... we must also keep in mind that the majority of scholars and theologians who are in agreement that the phrase sons of God is to be interpreted as meaning holy men who turned corrupt, Genesis chapter 6, are the older and wiser men of God who did not depend on their interpretation, but revealtion of the Holy Spirit to lead them into understanding of God's word and the translations of the Bible. And these are they who out weigh those who interpret the phrase to mean angels based on their own understanding as comparing the use of sons of God in Job, who were angels.
And again, you're correct, and It is our job to spiritually understand and discern as much as possible depending upon the Holy Spirit to lead us into all truth trhough revelation, and those things we do not understand, we must trust in God to reveal them to us and not try to read more into God's Word than what He has said. Had God wanted us to know more, He would have given us more information, yet He does not expect us to lean to our own understanding but to trust in Him, so that we may grow and mature spiritually in Christ toward that goal of being transformed and conformed into the image of Christ by faith. I think James has a wonderful post regarding this I think its called Discernment... also when tyring to get a clear understanding of Genesis6, we must consider and understanding that Adam and David are also called sons of God.
One question that came to mind today, and I wonder if you or anyone can answer for me... Have you ever seen, or wondered what a naked half human half angel would look like? ...just being silly, but I just had to go there... I was thinking about this today, what in the world would a naked half human, half angel look like... maybe a purple angel, you reckon?:purpleangel:...

... I know huh... Saved, I feel it is just as perverted to think or believe that the sons of God were angels who married earthly women and had children who grew up to be gaints... that's my whole point to think how perverted angels whether good or bad could procreat and have children, it all goes against everything that is of God.
As I've stated if they were evil angels, why would the ve called sons of God, and I think Lisa also pointed out the same thing in her post. How can evil angels be called by the name of God? Even satan had a name change and all the angels who rebelled with satan were cast out with him therefore, sureluy, God would not have allowed them to keep their holy name... think about it.
Plus, when you read this as it is written in the original manuscript you will see and understand that is does not read as it is written in the Bible with numbers, but as written in paragraph form, and it is much clearer.
Sorry, I didn't mean to shock you.... but only to show how ridiculous it is to believe angel bad or good could have children... LOL
