From the article, the last paragraph:

"Thus, Finney's whole theology, including his false views of man's depravity, of regeneration, of the natural ability of man, of his denial of man's inability before God, of faith, of justification, and of sanctification, are all part of the foundation, which carries his understanding of salvation, as not by grace through faith alone, but by man's ability to be completely and entirely sanctified by his own power and will and works."

James replies:

I have posted on justification by faith a couple of times on this group and it was ignored both times.

Being made right with God through faith in Jesus IS the center of the Christian faith, and Finney DENIED this!!

You are right twosparrows, I did not need a big article like this, because I already SAID Finney reduced salvation to works.

The article is a scholarly one, and is fair and detailed.

Finney thought man could save Himself, and the Bible says that fallen man is UTTERLY UNABLE to save Himself, or even believe in Jesus.

So not only are Calvinists miles apart from Finney, But Finney denied the CENTRAL TENANT OF CHRISTIANITY.

Case closed.

Theses statements are in complete of what this individual taught, his greatest fault to some was leading calvinist from death unto life.

No man in fellowship with the lord would so boldy post such garbage made up of lies and opinions to deny the work of the lord of the lord.

This initial report even mentioned to man of our day that said Finney was their hero, thus mocking their life.

Twosparrows,

I never said, you are anyone else followed Finney.

We are going beyond Arminianism when we talk about Finney.

I was hoping you would at least agree that Finney rejected the central tenant of the Christian faith.

I don't think anyone on this group has been persuaded by Finney except for PhillipJohn, and I only found that out by accident.

Faith in faith will never save anyone.

A man can only be right with God by trusting in Christ alone.

Attempting to save yourself by good works is a path that leads directly to HELL.

I was hoping we could agree on this central point, that Finney rejected completely.

in Christ

In agreeing with Scripture and being used of the lord to lead hundreds of thousands of people to faith in the lord, he is labeled a heretic.

So you are supposed to believe he saved all the people in ear of his preaching and not the lord.

Those that are taught of the holy spirit are under hunches, it is ok enough said

It is vital in the day we live that you guard your heart and mind to thsoe that proclaim they have the only truth and in so doing denying The Truth.

Jesus is Lord!!

Keep your eyes and hears upon the word of God that your mind will be renewed that you not your mind, would prove the perfect will of God.

It is just as Jesus Said

Hear the word of God

Believe the word of God

Do the word of God

That is your faith as a result, and your ways will please the lord.

Did I get my feelings hurt not at all, this is the love of God marking those that proclaim another Gospel, Jesus is the way for me.
