You can not trust the Holy Spirit, must trust church history.

First off, if you think that the Holy Spirit gives each Christian a perfect understanding of each verse of Scripture through some kind of spiritual intuition, then you need to give that idea up!

.

In otherwords the word that is written in the bible is not trustworth.

I did not say the word of God was not trustworthy, Calvin did, I personally believe it to be the truth.

James replies:

A Christian should trust the Holy Spirit on matters of Christian living, proper attitudes concerning Scripture, proper attitudes on listening To the Body of Christ, etc. PART OF trusting the Holy Spirit is obeying all parts of God word, including the parts where it says that Christians need each other, that God has given TEACHERS and preachers and elders, etc, to the church for guidance. Also, in proverbs where it says three times that there is wisdom in many counselors, we should trust the Holy Spirit that this is wisdom from God.

James replies:

No, PJ, that is incorrect, please read it again, and slowly this time.

James replies:

So, it is either, your spiritual hunches are infallible or the Bible is not trustworthy?

Wow that is arrogant. It is also superstitious.

You need to humble yourself and realize that superstition has no place in the Christian faith.

In Christ,

James

Being in College when I present an arguement I must provide the written statement with it.

PJ, You must provide the very text that Calvin used.

Not your view. you made a staement back it up.

Provide a statment and then say where you got it.

You just made a statement.

provide the text that Calvin says these things.

That will make you credible, instead of just making accusations. Dennis

Very good points Dennis!

And just because we present what we believe and why we believe it, does not mean it will be accepted.

All we can do is show from Scripture, and the testimony of Christians throughout history, concerning what we believe.

In Christ,

James

*** I believe it was James him self that made this statement not Calvin...The HOLY Spirit is Perfect in GOD...as Jesus is Perfect in GOD...To say Otherwise is Blasphemy !!!

The HOLY Spirit Reveals Scripture Spiritually to the Faithful Children of GOD...If it where not so...why would Jesus Pray to the Father to send a Comforter that would Bring to Rememberance ALL things that Jesus taught ???...Scripture is not " Interpeted by Intuition "...Nor Carnaly...
