A friend mentioned she was thinking about going out with someone who was a Wiccan. She, herself is Christian.
I'm curious how everyone feels in regards to Wiccans. Do you feel that it is different from the Satanic Religion and harmless, or a variation of it? Why? Also, do you think there are no problems with going out on a date with someone who's Wiccan?
I have my person beliefs, but would like to see what others feel
What does the Bible teach about being unequally yoked with non-believer in God? What has light to do with darkness?
If she is going out with this person to witness to his unbelief about Jesus Christ, then I personally, think she should go out with him but make sure she is being a witness to him about the Lord. But if she is not a strong Christian in the word of God herself, then she should even go out with him, regardly how nice he is, because such usually turn out with her emotions becoming involved and then there is goes... its becomes her own heart interests.
She should follow the teachings of what God has said about Christians being unequally yoked with those who do not know the Lord.
If this person is Wicca, then this means he is a satan worshipper( as been so spoken about on this forum, he is one of satan;'s children) ... and DOES NOT even believe in God. Does the word wicca mean? Isn't it witchcraft?
I would even be concerned about going out with anyone who practiced witchcraft, they are totally against the things of God including God Himself. And what does God teach us about those who practice witchcraft?
My question is why would a Christian consider going out on a date with someone who is a professed wicca which is a witch, in the first place?
I believe that ETcall has already given sound answers. I can add that even though a Wiccan may not openly state - or understand - that she follow Satan, that is in effect what she does. But of course, this applies directly or indirectly to all who do not follow the Lord... And as ETcall mentioned, the Bible is clear on the point that a Christian should not seek and enter a relationship with a non-Christian. Only if a non-Christian couple sees one of them becoming a Christian is this constellation ok (and it may even lead to the other person also becoming a Christian)...
et is right. Be ye not uneually yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with un-righteousness? And what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Be-li-al? Or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? ---------------2Corinthians 6:14,15
Okay, hold your horses, no one is talking about getting yoked, the question was about a date. First lets talk about Wicca; they are pagans not Satanists, they do Not believe in God or Satan. However all religions that do not worship in spirit and truth have Satan for a leader whether they acknowledge him or not; even some that declare themselves Christian.
The question is about a individual, therefore it has a individual answer. This person should have their own answer from God, if they are not close enough to God to get a answer then they should probably opt out. However if God says yes, go in the power of the Holy Spirit and who knows what may happen. Jesus entertained the company of drunkereds and prostitutes and look what happened.
*Remember this is a "spiritual" battle (or date) , so dress appropriately...the armour of God.
I think being un-equally yoked doesn't just mean in marriage. It means other relationships in our lives as well. If God is leading her to date this wiccan(is that what they're called?) maybe through her testimony he will come to know the Lord. If she isn't rooted and grounded however the wiccan could cause her to stumble. Two's advice is good-----Put on that Armour.
Of couse, this person is going to do as she/he pleases anyway, but in responses to the question posed, I really don' think she/he should even entertain going out on a date with this wiccan who has openly admitted to being a wiccan, if it is not to be a witness for the Lord... Putting on the whole armor of God means nothing if you don't know how to effectively use the armor once you have it on.
One doesn't wait to put on the whole armor of God, all believers should wear the armor daily, day and night. Let us not forget demons have power, and the only power believers have is through Jesus. If a Christina is not prayed up(stayed in prayer day and night always) and are empowered by the Holy Spirit and know how to war in spiritual warfare. There is no power and the armor means nothing...
And I would say if this person is clothed in the whole armor of God, then there would not be a question for Cat to post the topic. The person would know through discernment ipof spirit, that going out on a so-called date with this wiccan is not a plan God would approve of UNLESS she/he is going to be a witness for Jesus Christ. What is her/his PURPOSE of going out on a date this wiccan? And is she/he rooted and grounded deeply in the word of God and has the spriitual gift and power of discernment of demons. ANY FAITH BELIEF If its not of God through Jesus Christ it of demons.
Yes, Jesus sat and ate with sinners and drunkards and everyone else who believed and didn't believe in Him, and He also had the power to cast out these demons of drunkardness and unbelief... this person isn't a drunkard but is a true sinner, one of satan's children who belives not in God but in witchcraft.
Is there such a thing a good witchcraft and bad witchcraft? ALL SIN AND UNBELIEF IS WITCRAFT IN GOD'S EYES... And what does the Bible teach us about witchcraft, those who refuse to believe even in God, and subsitute His anme and power?
Interesting facts about wicca/wiccan:
This article is about the duotheistic religion. For other uses, see Wicca (disambiguation).
This pentacle, worn as a pendant, depicts a pentagram, or five-pointed star, used as a symbol of Wicca by many adherents.Wicca (pronounced /ˈwɪkə/) is a Neopagan religion and a form of modern witchcraft. Often referred to as Witchcraft or the Craft,[1] its adherents are commonly referred to as Wiccans, or as Witches or Crafters. Developing in England in the first half of the 20th century,[2] Wicca was popularised in the 1950s and early 1960s by a Wiccan High Priest named Gerald Gardner, who at the time called it the "witch cult" and "witchcraft," and its adherents "the Wica."[3] From the 1960s onward, the name of the religion was normalised to "Wicca."[4]
Wicca is typically a duotheistic religion, worshipping a goddess and a god, who are traditionally viewed as the Triple Goddess and Horned God. These two deities are often viewed as being facets of a greater pantheistic godhead, and as manifesting themselves as various polytheistic deities. Nonetheless, there are also other theological positions within the Craft, ranging from monotheism to atheism. Wicca also involves the ritual practice of magic, largely influenced by the ceremonial magic of previous centuries, often in conjunction with a broad code of morality known as the Wiccan Rede, although this is not adhered to by all Witches. Another characteristic of the Craft is the celebration of seasonally-based festivals, known as Sabbats, of which there are usually eight in number annually.
There are various different denominations within Witchcraft, which are referred to as traditions. Some, such as Gardnerian and Alexandrian Wicca, follow in the initiatory lineage of Gardner; these are often collectively termed British Traditional Wicca, and many of their practitioners consider the term Wicca to apply only to these lineaged traditions. Others, such as Cochrane's Craft, Feri and the Dianic tradition, take primary influence from other figures and may not insist on any initiatory lineage. Some of these do not use the word "Wicca" at all, instead preferring to be referred to only as "Witchcraft," while others believe that all traditions can be considered "Wiccan."[5][6]
I think its very important that it be understaoiod that not only can the believer be a planter of the seed , which in the case is is the Word of God, but the wiccan is most likely going to be a planter as well of his/her seed which is their doctrine of witcraft, attempting to try convert and lead the believer into his/her beliefs, and will most likely succeed. Because if its a woman who is the believer going out on a date with a wiccan who is a man, she is seeking love in all the wrong places and will sooner or later give in to the cleaver tricks of the devil in her heart of of kindness and wantons of love.
And how many women on this site have been overcome with lies of men who have overwhelmed them with sweet talk and kindness of interest in them. Men have also been taken aback, but Eve was deceiveed by the devil, and some women needy for a man in their lives, and are more beguiled when it comes to matter of the heart than men.
This is why I asked, what is her/his purpose of going out on the date in the first place with a wiccan? Looking for love in all the wrong places thinking she/he can convert the person after she/he has been won over their hearts as a love interest? Or seeking this as an opportunity to witness to the wiccan about the Lord Jesus Christ? Nothing should ever be done without PURPOSE!...
First of all, I don't think her purpose was to go out on a date to witness. I think she planned to go out with him just to have fun.
I also am not sure that she understood what Wiccans are, until some of us (other people were in on this discussion) mentioned that Wicca was just as Satanic as Satanists.
I asked this question because I was a little caught off guard that there are who Christians don't realize the full impact of the occult. And Wicca is definitely part of the occult.
I admit, I never thought about going on a date to witness to someone, but then, I probably wouldn't consider it a date at all if my intention was to witness.
Good reply Cat! That's why its so very important that before a person who profess and confess Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior go out on a date or get involved with anyone, they do as we are taught, 'TEST THE SPIRIT OF THAT PERSON TO SEE IF IT BE OF GOD",.
But to even consider going out on a date or whatever you would like to call it, even for fun.... how can you have fun with a person who is not in one accord with you in spirit? Does not Jesus teach us this, that My sheep know Me, and they know each other through Me, because there is fellowship one with the other in oneness in heart, mind, and spirit. There is no fellowship with someone who worship satan or who does not even recognized God as being God...even in fun because you have nothing in common to have fun even the things of same interest. There is still no unity of sameness in spirit.
I agree with Chevy...Evenly Yoked...dating or not is most Important...
