 Things Broken

The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of contrite spirit. Psalm 34:18

My family and I visit many places; historical, technical, and natural. On one occasion, we were in Maine walking down the streets of Portland and saw a table in front of a store. There were many items on the table, each marked down. The sign on the table read, Things Broken.

The world devalues things broken. How does GOD view brokenness? GOD sees our brokenness as an evidence of destroyed pride. He rejoices in that!

Cherish brokenness, because....

1~ It starts you on a move closer to GOD..Psa 34:18a ~  The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart;

2~ It increases your safety..Psa 34:18b ~ and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.

3 ~ It reminds you of Who is in Control..Jer 18:3a ~ Then I went down to the potter's house,

4~ It identifies the process of change..Jer 18:3b ~ and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels.

5 ~ It provides the opportunity to start over in life..Jer 18:4a ~ And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel,

6 ~ It focuses on His Will..Jer 18:4b as seemed good to the potter to make it.

7 ~ It also Allows you rest in His Sovereign Choices..Jer 18:6a ~ O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter?

YES He certainly can..Jer 18:6b ~ saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.

When the Sign goes up on your life Thongs Broken dont panic, rather rejoice., for GOD is about to Demonstrate your Real Value to Him. He is about to start over at the broken place and lead you forward in accordance with His Will. Be Grateful for those Broken times and Await His Gracious Repair..

That is exactly why I don't wear thongs, there is not enough material causing them to easily break.

Actually a great post Jude, excatly what I needed to hear.

Thongs... ? As in the undergarment? Why would someone keep around a broken pair? I know that God can use brokenness and all, but I think I would draw the line at broken thongs (though I don't wear them in the first place). And I certainly wouldn't try to resale them at a sidewalk sale!

I'm a little confused as to why this couldn't be discussed in terms other than undergarments, but the overall point here is good.

Beautiful post Jude. And I will add that God can only use brokn things Pixy, because when we are broken we are out of self and into humility. Every person God has ever used, He has had to break into pieces, and remake.

When we turly repent of our sins and come before God on our knees before a holy God, repentance should bring about brokenness, and sorrow in our hearts. If it doesnt then there has not been true sincere repentance.

As David says, "The sacrifices of God for repentance are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart. O God You will not despise." Psalm 51.

Brokenness is the works of repentance.

Pixy, I'm surely you recognized the word "thongs" in the pastor's sermon to be a typo for the word "Things Broken". Being that the letters "I" and "O" are close together on the keyboard.
