Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28
Abide in me, and I in youIf ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. John 15:4a & 7
Sound familiar ? I mean, you started this thing by Faith, why not end it on the same high note ? Both invitations come from the same loving Saviour. You know by firsthand experience that His Word is true. His promises kept, His welcome hearty, His pardon full and free, His love sweet and precious~you may agree indeed that half has not been told !
What about the other half ? you came all right, now its time to abide. Disappointed ? Disenchanted ? Disparaged ? Hey, the answer is simple; it is you or I that wandered from Him. We either did not understand or have forgotten that the blessings He bestows on those who come are given to be enjoyed only while in close proximity to Him.
The call to Come is a call to Stay. With the same sincerity that God induced us to come, He bids us to abide. Why did you come ? To find your thirsting soul satisfied ? Your weary heart rested ? Whatever moved you to come is pleading fro you to abide with an hundred times greater force. Many have come who know painfully little of the One they came to. The Saviour would have kept us, but we were not willing to stay, to give up the world, to abide in Christ.
We did well to come ~ we would do very well to abide.
Abide, in other words, living in the word, and te word living in us. Great messages. God says the person who does so, will be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, who get his/her blessings in due season...we come into a closer relationship with God , and He with us, and this is when He reveals Himself to us even the more :applause: good psot Jude!
