And God said to Jesus, "You are a Priest forever, just like Melchizedck"

The old law is done away with, because it was weak and useless, people did not obey it and continued in their sins after making the animal sacrifice.. The law did not make anyone perfect. Now a better HOPE has been given to us, and that HOPE brings us near to God. The chnage of Priests was made with an oath. while others became Priests without any oath. But Jesus became a Priest with an oath. God said to Him, " The Lord has taken an oath and made a promise. He will not change His mind. He has said, You are a Priest forever"

And because of that oath, Jesus makes the promise of a better covenant certain." He is our High Priest...

Before Jesus came to earth, people long ago had ot pay for their own sins. They had to offer an animal sacrifice to God.

The priest would ake the animal's blood to God's altar and offer it up for the sins of that person who brought the animal. Then the priest would pray and ask God to forgive the person or people's sins. This would cover the sins for one year. Then the person would have to come back every year with a new animal sacrifice.

Now that Jesus has made this great sacrifice for sins for every person born and is to be born in the world, and He who knew no sins, took on all the sins of the world that will ever be committed in the world of all people. Jesus is the blood sacrifice to God. But He does not bring the blood of animals, He suffered to give His own blood on the altar.

Jesus paid the price for our sins with His own blood on the cross, and the blood of Jesus paid for all our sins. Now there is no need for an animal sacrifice to cover our sisn. Jesus has erased this praictice. He saved you completely and you are saved when you believe by faith in the blood that He shed on the cross.

And His forgiveness is forevre as far as the east is to the west, when there is total repentance of those sins. Each time you confess your sins to God, you are forgiven. But you must TURN away from those sins, or suffer the punishment and consequences of those sins from the mighty hands of God.

We are taught that when we repent of our sins, God is faithful and just, and He will forgive us of ALL our sins and lceanse us from all unrighteousness. Hoever, uf you continue in those sins He will punish us,, becasue we are frustrating His grace and the blood of Jesus, and placing Jesus back on the cross crucified all over again for the sins He has already suffered for. And this makes a Holy God very angry.

Everytime you confess your sins, Jesus goes before God and pleads mercy on our behalf, and every sin is forgiven.

Jesus Christ is our High Priest of the New Covenant, and there is no longer a need to go to any priest to pray or to confess our sins to, because we now have personal access directly to the throne of grace through Jesus Christ when we ray for our own sins before God. And God Himself has given us an invitation to come bodly to His thorne of grace.

Sorry, Jude, and thanks for asking, It in Hebrews chapter 7: verse17. The whole chapter is about Jesus' priestly order as Melchizedek, it all starts in chapter 5-7.

Melchiz was a type of Christ, God Himself therefore, He transferred this position to Jesus when He declared Him High Priest.

Melchiz had no beginning or ending, there are no records of him having a mother or father, because he was God to whom Abraham paid the first tithe of those things he had gathered after winning a war, and received the blessing. Then God made the law of tithing for Israel. But we, as Christians pay our tithes according to the promised blessing of Abraham received. You can read about Melchiz and Abraham in Genesis chapter 14.
