We have seen His star in the east and we are come to worship Him...‏

The three wise men came from the east. These three men came to Jerusalem. They were seeking the one born King of the Jews.

When Herod the king heard these things, he was troubled and all Jerusalem with him.

This is interesting. Why should they be troubled? Why were they not happy that the one born king of the Jews had come into the world?

I will tell you why. Herod was King over Jerusalem and here the child was born that would one day sit on the throne of David in Jerusalem and reign over Israel, in the millennial reign.

They were troubled as the true King had arrived.

Interestingly they had come to worship Him. Why, as they believed He was God.

Interesting King Herod said to them in Matthew 2 v8: Go and search diligently for the young child and when ye have found him bring me word again that I may come and worship Him

What interests me that Herod living in a Jewish culture would want to worship the King. It interests me as today if you ask any Jewish rabbi what kind of person will the Messiah be he will say just an ordinary man but with maybe a charismatic character. They wouldnt dream of worshipping Him. Today Jewish people are not expecting the Messiah to be God. However in Jesus day they did expect the Messiah to be divine. Judaism has really changed. There are other passages in the New Testament that show how Judaism has changed. The Judaism of 2000 years ago was expecting a divine Messiah. Messiah is the same word in the Greek as Christos or Christ, it means anointed one.

Herod gathered the chief priests together and asked them where the Messiah was to be born. They said to him in Bethlehem of Judea. There was no question in their minds. Today if you were to ask the same question of Jewish Rabbis they wouldnt have a clue. Many would not even know this Scripture. Jewish people were the ones that gave us the old and new testaments and yet to many of them the Bible is a closed book. Many do not know the Scriptures.

The chief priests quoted Micah 5:2 when Herod asked them where would the Messiah be born.

This is a passage from the Old Testament. I have studied it in Hebrew and as a Jewish person it never fails to amaze me. Why? Because it says that the one born in Bethlehem will be from ancient time from the days of eternity.

We all had a beginning in time. The angels had a beginning. Every human being had a beginning. However God has no beginning. Thats one of the features that separates us from Him. Its hard for us to imagine but there never was a time when God didnt exist.

We can all have notions and ideas about God and the Messiah. Part of humility is saying Lord God Almighty I do not know the truth, please show me the truth. With me I had to be prepared to give up the cherished ideas that I had learnt from my parents when I was a child. Is truth the one thing we seek? To be faithful to the truth is so important even if it means relinquishing our own ideas. This can be a humbling experience are we prepared to let go of our pride?

The Bible says if you seek me with all of your heart you will FIND me.

When we talk about finding Jesus we are talking about having a relationship with God as a child would with their father. Its a real relationship. We are not talking so much about a religion. No, we are talking about a relationship. Theres a difference!

Another interesting thing from this passage is that Jesus is described in this passage as a young child. When Herod killed all the children in Bethlehem he killed all the boys that were 2 years and under. In other words, the child Jesus would have been about 2 when the wise men visited Him(Unlike the pictures we sometimes see of the wise men visiting a baby).

When Jesus returns He will return as a great King not as a baby Jesus. The wise men sought Him carefully will you also diligently LOOK for HIM?

There is nothing to add or subject to this word. It speaks for its self right to the point. But I can add (lol) Harod's piropose was with evil intent, and God wraned the wise men of this. He wasn;t interested in worshipping the Jesus. Herod was a heathen  he wanted to know where Jesus was so he could kill him, this is why he put all the male babes to death that were born andthose from the age of 2 years old, aorund the time the wise men sad they saw the star. Then got mad when the wise men betrayed him... the nut!

I am so glad God knows the hearts and minds o f men and their thoughts and intent! He knows how to stop foolishness in a big hurry:applause::glow:
