Some would have you to believe that the father has created evil, allows evil, uses evil to afflict his people.
Nu 13:32 And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature.
After all that the father promised his people, he would do for them and give them, he allowed fear to grip them and give out the evil report and all the Israelites but two died in the desert.
The voice of man stands in the corner whispering remember, we said we will call it mercy, anything short of hell.
Jesus said he came to destroy the works of the devil.
The voice of man says it is the will of the father, the will of the devil that is!!
Did Jesus say the devil would flee from him?
The voice of man says even though this sickness is the will of God I am going to the doctor to overcome the will of God, lol
Take note, there is figurative evil and literal evil. Figurative evil can be God ordained and/or allowed, Literal evil is never from God. It must also be remembered the defining perspective of evil is the spiritual eternal perspective, not the physical perspective.
Twosparrows was saying, and I hope I can make this a bit clearer, that one kind of "evil" means "something bad" Like God makes me to experience a sickness or some kind of suffering that ultimately, makes me a more mature Christian, or more thankful or humble in some way. That is one kind of evil, and that can come from God.
The OTHER kind of evil, is MORAL evil and God is NOT the author of moral evil.
God USES the wickedness of man, but is NEVER the AUTHOR of evil.
Here are three quotes to think about:
Providence is generally used to denote God's preserving and governing all things by means of second causes (Ps. 18:35; 63:8; Acts 17:28; Col. 1:17; Heb. 1:3). God's providence extends to the natural world (Ps. 104:14; 135:5-7; Acts 14:17), the brute creation (Ps. 104:21-29; Matt. 6:26; 10:29), and the affairs of men (1 Chr. 16: 31; Ps. 47:7; Prov. 21:1; Job 12:23; Dan.2:21; 4:25), and of individuals (1 Sam. 2:6; Ps. 18:30; Luke 1:53; James 4: 13-15). It extends also to the free actions of men (Ex. 12:36; 1 Sam. 24:9-15; Ps. 33:14, 15; Prov. 16:1; 19:21; 20:24; 21:1), and things sinful (2 Sam. 16:10; 24:1; Rom. 11:32; Acts 4:27, 28), as well as to their good actions (Phil. 2:13; 4:13; 2 Cor. 12:9, 10; Eph. 2:10; Gal. 5: 22-25). As regards sinful actions of men, they are represented as occurring by God's permission (Gen. 45:5; 50:20. Comp. 1 Sam. 6:6; Ex. 7:13; 14:17; Acts 2:3; 3:18; 4:27, 28), and as controlled (Ps. 76:10) and overruled for good (Gen. 50:20; Acts 3:13).
Easton's Bible Dictionary
God does not cause or approve of sin, but only limits, restrains, overrules it for good. The mode of God's providential government is altogether unexplained. We only know that it is a fact that God does govern all his creatures and all their actions; that this government is universal (Ps. 103:17-19), particular (Matt. 10:29-31), efficacious (Ps. 33:11; Job 23:13), embraces events apparently contingent (Prov. 16:9, 33; 19: 21; 21:1), is consistent with his own perfection (2 Tim. 2:13), and to his own glory (Rom. 9:17; 11:36).
Because God sustains the universe's moment-by-moment existence, nothing comes about independently of his will. He governs all creatures and events so that they accomplish what he intends, either by their acting freely (as through human choice) or contingently (as when something happens that did not have to happen) or necessarily (as with the law of gravity). Thus God, in ways beyond our understanding, works in and through everything to bring about his good purposes.
Sodom and Gomorrah, for instance. From man's perspective, it was bad news - And it came directly from fire from heaven! One could call it evil. But it was ultimately good because it was an expression of God's judgment upon their wickedness. God would not be holy and righteous - and good - if He allowed sin.
Additionally, we know from the story of Job that Satan had to ask God's permission to attack Job. (Job 1:12). According to this, even when there is a direct attack from Satan, he can't do anything without God's permission. Nothing evil in this world goes unseen by God, or undirected according to His ultimate good... and being His children, we are thankful that His nature is always good. We just don't see the big picture.
Wonder why we are told that God removed His Spirit from Saul, and allowed an evil spirit to enter Saul, because he had disobeyed God, and the word of God says,, and an evil spirit FROM THE LORD TROUBLED SAUL. And Saul's servnat said to him, Look, an EVIL SPIRIT FROM GOD TROUBLES YOU, let me go and get a lad to play the harp for you and it will go away whenever, the EVEIL SPIRIT FROM THE LORD COMES UPON YOU.
We are also told that each time the Lord sent the evil spirit upon Saul David would play his harp, and the eveil spirit would quiten within Saul. I Samuel chapter 10.
Not only will God allow things to happen, He will also send sicknesses and disease, and case all kinds of diasters, when there is disobedience and He brings judgment againts us, at least this is what I read in my Bible, and not only this but He will also LAUGH AT US when we continue to refuse to obey Him, and He removes His hand of grace and mercy for a season from us according to the fulfilling of His perfect plans, His perfect will, His perfect purposes.
God can do it like this, because He is God, so He do it like this, this is why He is sovereign, He doesn't need approval from anyone to do as He pleases, He is His own council and gives Himself counsel, and really doesn't care what anyone thinks, being that He is he potter and creator of all things, and ALL things are subjected to Him and are under His feet.
The earth is the lord, and everything that dwells there is. So He's within His own rights to do as He pleases, man should soon or later began to realize this, and know that even the breathe of our lives depends on God and if should decide to cut it short, He can do it whenever He please. When this is realized man will come into a better relationship with God with ore respect for God and the things of God., knwing that ONLY God has the free will, and power to do all things.
And God says, I have stretched out my hand and no one regarded my consel, and would have none of my reproof. I also will laugh at your calamity and I will mock when your terror comes. When your terror comes like a storm, and your destruction comes like a whirlwind, when your distress and anguish come upon you. Then you will call on me, but I will not answer, they will seek me diligenty, but they will not find me, says the Lord.
Resisting the devil, has nothing to do with resiting God...
