Lets put down our Vine's expository dictionary of biblical words and our Strong's concordance and our theological dictionaries and our expositor's bible commentaries for just a second.

What does a person need to know to "respond" to Gods call of salvation?.... 1) they are sinners. 2) God loves them. If they say yes to this everything else will follow.

Some people say we are so Spiritually dead that we cannot even respond to Gods call of salvation.

Pleeeease...

When I come home from work and one of my dogs has tore something up or got in the trash I can tell by how they act they know two things : 1) They are in trouble, (they have sinned) 2) They know I love them and desire a restored relationship.

You think maybe my dogs got born again while I was at work? Hmmmm...It all makes sense now.....that day I can home from work and my dogs were all wet; I thought they had been playing in the water trough.....they must of got baptized by missionaries ....from Pet Smart Ministries!

But I digress.....

The point is if my dogs can know that much, man created in Gods image certainly can respond to Gods call, though spiritually dead.

Enoch, Job, Elijah and Im sure more responded to Gods salvation and were not sinners, but yes they did know that God loved them.

Them dogs being wet, would not be a possible indicator that they were baptized unto salvation, but it would be a good show of faith!

(Mat 3:11) I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:

My dog's smart, but he won't listen! I'm still hoping if I keep feeding him, giving him water, loving him---- one of these days he'll decide to do exactly as I say!

Good post, Twosparrows!

Common sense applies. If one living in sin will respond to Gods call to salvation, it means he has to stop sinning.

Spiritually dead I think is when one know God but doesnt believe in him. Like, sure there is God but as to eternal damnation after death, reap what I sow (just coincidences), if I continue sinning that remains to be seen.

But isnt it better to prepare for life after death and found there is none than reject the idea and not prepare and found there is? It is like a gamble and ones eternal state is at stake
