Noah Baptized?

Do I got this right?

(Heb 11:7) By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.

Noah and house through faith was saved to righteousness.

righteousness=Jesus Christ (Jer 23:6) .....and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.

And was baptized with water

Water baptism=Flood 1Pe 3:20 ... wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. 3:21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us ......

If so there must be more reference to people in the Old Testament being saved by faith in Jesus Christ and water baptized right up to baptism by the Holy Ghost.(Mar 1:8) I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.

It seems Jesus Christ was just as prevalent in the Old Testament as he is in the New Testament.

Flyby,

Yes, you are right. What we have in the bible is something gradually coming into focus.

We have God telling Eve that her offspring would crush the head of the serpent. That is considered the first mention of the coming Messiah.

If we read the first chapters of Romans, we see Paul teaching that anyone who was ever saved was saved by faith.

We see the concept of the Messiah gradually coming into focus in the Old Testament. God literally used the Temple sacrifices as a way to point to Jesus, who would someday come and be the perfect sacrifice.

Here are a couple quotes agreeing with what you have said:

"We affirm that the Person and work of Jesus Christ are the central focus of the entire Bible.

We deny that any method of interpretation which rejects or obscures the Christ-centeredness of Scripture is correct."

Chicago Statement on Biblical Hermeneutics (Article III)

"We ought to read the Scriptures with the express design of finding Christ in them. Whoever shall turn aside from this object, though he may weary himself throughout his whole life in learning, will never attain the knowledge of the truth; for what wisdom can we have without wisdom of God?"

John Calvin Commentary on John 5:39

In Christ,

James

Galatians 3 vs 8 : And the Scripture, forseeing that God would justify the nations by faith, preached the GOSPEL to Abraham beforehand, saying,"In you all the nations shall be blessed."

vs 9 : So then those who are of faith are blessed with believing Abraham. NKJ

Peter is telling us that Noah's experience in the ark was a type, or foreshadowing, of baptism and in a sense it was a baptism for Noah and his family.

Of interest here is that the Hebrew word for "pitch", which was put on the inside and outside of the ark, is "Kaphar" This is the root word for the Hebrew word "Kapur" which means atonement. In the case of Noah's experience the atonement was spread all over the inside and the outside of the ark. I believe the ark represents the salvation to come through Messiah. So because of the salvation through Messiah and His atonement, Noah was able to withstand and pass through (baptism) the judgment of God upon the evil of the world.

Therefore we who are born from above now are washed in the atoning blood of Jesus, safe from the wrath of God and held tightly by the love of our savior, Jesus Christ. Just as Noah was baptized in the atonement of God's salvation, so are we.
