you are so wrong.I came out of the Luthern Church. Then I became pentacostal.
No a true Christian never loses their faith.
If Jesus did not die for the sins of the world but only those who he wanted to he would have said that.
There are only followers of Jesus and unbelievers.
It is one or the other.
No Pope, no man has the authorty to say he is right.
All men are liars, only God is truth.
I made a statement earlier, about a true Christain,
You see the ones that will fall never were true believers.
They were the ones that showed up just for the show.
Plus, you said what I believe with out asking, I know what believe. So, does God. If what you said about me was true then my faith would only be a religion. It is not. Hell is filled with religous people. My faith is not a religion. it is a personal friendship with Jesus Christ.
read John 3:16 some time. Do not error here. God does not exist in our time line. he knew who would decide to follow him in the beginning. Why was the tree of knowledge put in the garden. to give us a choice. It is his will for us to make a choice. he does not need us to do his will. It will get done without us. Sin sent us all to hell. However, Jesus changed that, for who so ever believes in him, ( jesus) will have eternal life. That is a choice we all have to make.
Martin Luther, was a dedicated Catholic priest. We thought that he had to work his way into heaven. Then he read, The just shall be saved by grace alone. I believe tht the just and the elect are the same.Dennis
Last year I visited what turned out to be an extremely Calvinistic church. TULIP was the name of one of their classes. Several other classes were teaching the basics of Calvinism too. I had never come across what I heard in class the morning I visited, so I e-mailed the pastor and asked him to explain Calvinism. Here's part of his response:
"At this point, I would respond with two statements which I believe most people who take the Bible seriously would affirm. The first is that God in his holy will condemned all to judgment because of sin. Every being in the universe apart from God is created by God, including Satan and all human beings. God loves his creation. Yet for purposes that exalt him, he has declared all humanity under the curse of Adam's sin and liable to judgment for their own sin. If anyone does not receive the punishment due to sin it is because of the mercy of God. Where people disagree is the basis on which God shows mercy.
"The second statement is that, unless one believes that God will save everyone in the end, Jesus could not have died for all people in the same way. The Cross secures things for a believer in a way that is not true for all human beings. People disagree on how the death of Christ relates to those who do not accept his Sacrifice."
There were several things that bothered me about Calvinism, and several things that bothered me about his answer. That said, I also disagree with some Arminian teachings in their purest form. I don't think we're "saved" or "lost" minute to minute. Salvation is much firmer than that. I also don't believe that we have to repent, item by item, of everything we might have done wrong every day. I've heard that teaching in Arminian camps, but doing that would mean constantly second guessing ourselves and worrying about every breath we take. However, there are many staunch Calvinists, but there aren't many staunch Arminianists.
