The most central and most important prophecy for mankind!
I believe God is telling Daniel not only the 1st coming of our Savior, but also his 2nd coming which means the 70th week of Daniel has not been fulfilled, I call it the gap theory. You are either a Historicalist or a Furturist. Let's enjoying discussing and really studing this passage before making your decision with a comment.
Daniel 9:24-27 NIV
24 Seventy sevens are decreed for your people and your holy city to finish transgression, to put an end to sin, to atone for wickedness, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the Most Holy Place.
25 Know and understand this: From the time the word goes out to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the Anointed One, the ruler, comes, there will be seven sevens, and sixty-two sevens. It will be rebuilt with streets and a trench, but in times of trouble. 26 After the sixty-two sevens, the Anointed One will be put to death and will have nothing. The people of the ruler who will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will come like a flood: War will continue until the end, and desolations have been decreed. 27 He will confirm a covenant with many for one seven. In the middle of the seven he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And at the temple he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him.
Daniel 7:24-27 can relate to the above passage along with.
Rev 17:12-13, 16-17
Blessing to you and enjoying agreeing or disagreeing!:waving:
Wow your Bible is way different than mine, I can see how we might disagree. In verse 26 does it really say ...the Anointed One will be put to death and will have nothing.? Wow because He had everything, He completed it! He won, He conquered sin for us!
Not looking like Im a futurist but Im willing to entertain the gap theory for fun.
And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. KJV
Thank you Deborah...There are many Translations & Many Bibles...I use the KJV also...I noticed when reading other translations an I've read many...that words & phrases are added so the reader can understand what is being said...BUT...its not Always saying the same thing...thats my two bits...all hava Blessed day an know that those that are GOD's children need not concern them selves with such matters....xo
Just a note: The New American Standard is considered the most accurate to the oldest manuscripts by most Bible scholars.
As far as futuristic or historical, I consider the prophecy BOTH. Just like foothills before the peaks may look like one mountain, in reality there are peaks and valleys between the highest peak and I
KJV 26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off,[[[ but not for himself: ]]] and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
*** Notice it says but NOT for Himself meaning Selfless ?
NKJV 26 And after the sixty-two weeks
Messiah shall be cut off,[[[ but not for Himself; ]]]
And the people of the prince who is to come
Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary.
The end of it shall be with a flood,
And till the end of the war desolations are determined.
*** Notice it says But NOT for Himself meaning Selfless ?
I aint no Bible Scholar, Theologist or Prophecy fanaticthese other translations to follow are not saying or relaying the same meaning or message to mebut I do appreciate NCWs posts of prophecys even though I dont always agree with them
NASB 26 "Then after the sixty-two weeks the Messiah will be [[[ cut off and (have) nothing, ]]] and the people of the prince who is to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary And its end will come with a flood; even to the end there will be war; desolations are determined.
AMPB 26 And after the sixty-two weeks [of years] shall the Anointed One be cut off [or killed] and shall have nothing [and no one] belonging to [and defending] Him. And the people of the [other] prince who will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. Its end shall come with a flood; and even to the end there shall be war, and desolations are decreed.
NIV 26 After the sixty-two sevens, the Anointed One will be put to death and will have nothing. The people of the ruler who will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will come like a flood: War will continue until the end, and desolations have been decreed.
If you contrast what Jesus had at the end of His first coming with what He will have at His second coming from the perspective the Jews looking for a King, it makes perfect sense.
I used NIV 2010 version for the post, I didn't even know there was a newer version until I research it, that version is the default for biblegateway.com. I use bible.cc alot for different versions of the Bible for study, but I too read the KJV.
Is this post going to talk about different Bibles we have availible or the post.
If you wish to talk about the post, Let' stay focus on it.
The 70 Weeks Prophecy of Daniel 9:24-27 is unquestionably a key prophecy of the Bible. It gives the timing of both the
First and Second Coming of Israel's Messiah. It predicted the construction of the Second Temple and predicts the morning
and evening sacrifices of the Third Temple and the Antichrist who will stop them and inhabit the temple. It is from
the 70th week of Daniel, as interpreted by Jesus in the Olivet Discourse, that the term Great Tribulation is derived.
Simply put, without this prophecy a complete Revelation Roadmap could not be constructed.
If You Are Unfamiliar With Daniel's 70 Weeks
Not surprisingly, my Revelation Roadmap is based on the 70th
Week of Daniel. Therefore, understanding the roadmap requires familiarity with this key prophecy. As it is so familiar and adequately explained by many other sources
For those who are totally unfamiliar with the 70 Weeks or why the 70th Week must be after a time gap and yet future, I
can recommend some free articles by Thomas Ice. They explain much of the 70thWeek from a literal approach, and highlight the problems with the allegorizers' approach (Preterism). Although Ice works with Tim LaHaye and is naturally a pre-tribulation rapturist, he nevertheless has much worth listening to. (I'm a firm believer in that we can and must learn from everyone if we truly are diligently seeking the truth on a subject, regardless of our prejudices against views a teacher may hold on other points.)

Two you are right on track. This prophecy talks about Jesus 1st coming at the 69th week not at the end of that week when John the Baptist Baptized Jesus and the Holy Spirit came upon him. That begins his ministry. Did he finish his work, he did for the Gentiles but not for the Jews. This comes before his 2nd coming or the 70th week of Daniel during the gathering in Jerusalem at the Temple Mount and the building of the Third Temple in beginning of the of the last 7 years in this last generation.
God's servants including the Woman and the 144,000 are led to Jerusalem by a real prophet of God (Malachi 4's Elijah?) setting up a community there lasting approximately two years, possibly ending when the 1335 days begin. (Zeph 2:1; first gather) That means the Gentiles and the Jews from the 12 tribes. 10 from the House of Israel and 2 tribes from the House of Judah, House of Israel is the Gentiles (The Church), another reason that the church will play a big part during the Tribulation!
Once the 144,000 are sealed, their mission begins of warning people according to the three angels' messages of Rev 14. They go two by two preaching the everlasting Gospel as a witness to all nations (Rev 14:6=Mt24:14, while unharmed even during the GT.
