Posted : 13 Jan, 2011 12:19 AM Followers of Christ DO NOT have the option of withholdign forgiveness according to what Jesus teches all of us as believers in Matthew chaater 18: verses 21-22, as well as in Matthew chapter 6:verses 9-15, and throughout His teachings in the gospel, as well as Paul's teachings. Forgiveness is NOT soemthing that is earned, it is something that is given. And if we DO NOT forgive those who have caused us hurt and pain, God says He will not forgive us of our sins (the hurt and pain) we have caused others, and more than this, the pain and hurt we have caused toward Him by being disobedient. Hypocrisy and a lack of mercy are SINS that CANNOT be hidden, and an unforgiving spirit brings God's displeasure and, He disciplines us for not forgiving others. Forgiveness is a heartfelt experience from the inside, shown on the outside toward that person who has caused us pain or hurt. Knowing all these things, instead of obedience to God's word about forgiving others, when He has said in His word that, UNLESS we forgive others, He WILL NOT FORGIVE US OF OUR SINS? So why is PRIDE allowed to stand in our way of being quick to forgive others who have sinned against us, and yet we expect God to forgive us when we sin against Him and others? Knowing that if we don't forgve, we will not be forgiven... Post Reply

Some times it may seem impossible to forgive the one who shot your brother; beat your sister; hurt your mother--- But I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. chevy :prayingm: Post Reply

This is the point I made, forgiveness from God we did not earn, He just gave, becasue its is a gift from God to us that we are to pass it own to other as we would other give to us. Forgiveness of sins, we have not earned nor deserve it, but God gave because He knows we are ignorant of His knowledge, and wisdom. Love from God we did not earn nor deserve, God gave His Only Begotten Son, He gave out of the kindness of His character for His creation ot be set fre from the bondage of darkness. Grace from God, we did not earn nor deserve, God gave because it was His salvation plan to save and protect His creation. Mercy we did not earn nor deserve, God gave because He had pity on us. Commpassion we did not earn nor deserve, God gave because of His goodness of His heart toward us. There is nothing we have, that we have earned or deserve outside of God, it all has been a free gift from God. Even so, the very breath we breath. All things are gifts from God, and His purpose fulfilled for freely giving to us and we have not earned nor do we deserve anything but hell's fire. It prove His nature as being A AWESOME GOD! YET God gave and continuesTO give to show His character and power for His OWN glory. Likewise, we are to pass it forward and give as He has given to us and not one person on this earth earned or deserve anything. We are to forgive just as God forgives us in spite of ourselves, not for the other person's sake... but for our own health sake, and because God has forgiven us much without asking for anything in return. Forgiveness prevents many health problem, and brings forth spiritual awareness and closeness with God. And unforgiveness causes many health problems, and keep us away from God. Many people are sick, dead, and dying today, because they have refused to forgive someone for mess that happened 50 years ago, and this is and has eaten them alive. God does not respect a person nor accept what we offer to Him, if we have not truly forgiven another person for thw rong they have done or cuase in our lives. Forgive us of our debts (sins), as we forgive our debotors (those who have sinned against us)...:glow: Post Reply
