Or how God did NOT ordain the form of worship service that is commonly advanced by MANY churches today.
The root meaning of worship is found in a ship/vessel/shape expressing the worth of God in loving admiration of the greatness of His character, attributes, ability. Wherein we make ourselves in body as small as possible, so that the spirit could be lifted upward toward God. There are 15 different Hebrew and Greek words that are translated as worship. Which words often convey the following meanings: our bowing down, as prostrate in venerated esteem of God who is worthy of being kissed. This is all about sincere and inward communion; and not just some outward posturing.
God is Spirit, and so those that worship Him MUST worship Him in spirit and in truth (Jn 4:24). For now true worshippers SHALL worship the Father in spirit and in truth, because the Father is seeking such to worship Him (4:23); Without which you dont know what you are worshipping (4:22); Especially IF you are allegedly worshipping God from some place (on earth) (4:21-20); Meaning; in a temple/church that has an altar built by mens hands where God does NOT dwell, you are in ignorance because you are worshipping an unknown god (Acts 17:24-23,25-28). The times of your ignorance (concerning worshipping an unknown god) God has winked at, but NOW is commanding you to Repent of this ignorance! (Acts 17:30).
Now that Jesus Christ is raised up into the heavenly realm, we can be raised up with Him and seated with Him in heaven too (Eph 2:6, and Lk 12:37). Beware of being in the leavening, because of hypocrisy (Lk 12:1); Which leavening comes from the doctrines of the Pharisees (religious leaders today) (Mt 16:12); Who love salutes, the best seats, and long prayers, THESE shall receive greater condemnation (Mk 12:38-40); Because they are full of hypocrisy, because they are teaching false doctrine (Mt 16:12, Mk 12:38).
For all things have been revealed, and can now be spoken of (Lk 12:2-3). This is not about the body, which can be killed, and then put into hell! Its all about being in the fear of God (12:4-5); Which fear gives us a hatred for doing our own will, and way, in our own strength (Prov 8:13-14). For we are to be numbered and NOT forgotten (Lk 12:7-6). Whosoever confesses these things in Christ before men, the Son of man shall also confess before God (12:8).
WITHOUT WHICH (YOUR CONFESSION OF ALL THESE THINGS) YOU SHALL BE DENIED BEFORE GOD (12:9). This is not about speaking against the Son of man, which can be forgiven; it is about blaspheming against the Holy Spirit, (being under false doctrine which causes hypocrisy)which shall NOT be forgiven (12:10). For only through the Holy Spirit can we have the following answer (12:12-11): Dont interrupt this testimony through covetousness, which is into possessing (12:13-15); Wherein it is all about what is YOURS, or what YOU can do (12:16-18); OR you shall end up speaking about your own soul in retirement, saying that it was all about having fun! (12:19).
THIS is for those who are fools, who are going to lose their soul, because they are living for themselves, and are NOT living for God (Lk 12 20:-21). Life is NOT to be all about providing for the body (12:22-23); Rather we should consider how God takes care of body and soul (in spirit), if we have faith (12:24-28). Why seek as those of the world, when the Father knows what you need; and can add all things to you? (12:29-31).
We are talking about the kingdom provision unto the soul/heart/in spirit (12:32-34); Wherein we are openly waiting upon the Lord to come upon us and cover us with the light (12:35-36). IF you are watching/waiting for the Lord to come and {serve} provide for you, YOU are blessed; and you shall sit with Him (12:37). Therefore we need to be made ready for the Lord (Lk 12:40). FOR THIS KINGDOM PORTION IS ONLY GIVEN TO THOSE WHO WERE MADE WISE UNTO BEING FAITHFUL (WORSHIP) SERVANTS (12:41-43).
Without His coming upon us, (to work these things in us, and out of us) we are into playing (12:45). IF Jesus comes looking for YOU, and YOU are unaware of this, because you do NOT know the Lords will, YOU will be ill prepared, and as such your portion is the same as that which unbelievers get! (12:46-47).
Luk 7:44 Then He turned to the woman and said to Simon, "Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave Me no water for My feet, but she has washed My feet with her tears and wiped them with the hair of her head.
Luk 7:45 You gave Me no kiss, but this woman has not ceased to kiss My feet since the time I came in.
Luk 7:46 You did not anoint My head with oil, but this woman has anointed My feet with fragrant oil.
Luk 7:47 Therefore I say to you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little."
Luk 7:48 Then He said to her, "Your sins are forgiven."
WOW! Sic, you and Lee, have said a mouth full! what a great post and scripture referneces.:glow::applause:...wondner who is listen, and hearing what you both have posted. 2011 is a wonderful time to make change in how one worships the Lord.
hello martin... this is an example of sincere awe and reverance to God, but has noting to do with worshipping God "in spirit", which we must learn to do as Jesus said (Jn 4:24-25). :glow:
Jesus used the physical to explain the spiritual. True worship is a matter of the heart. It comes from knowing God, submitting to Him, and putting self aside. Just as the woman in the story did with Jesus.
She recognized Him for who He was, completely submitted herself to Him, and put herself in the position of His servant. No questions, no doubts, no holding back. Pure complete thankfulness for who Jesus was, and what He was doing.
I have heard the whole worship in Spirit and in truth thing before. Usually from JW's. What it really comes down to is, how do you interpret that scripture? What is the truth? Jesus Christ. What Spirit is being referenced in the scripture? The Spirit of Christ! So, we have to worship God with the Spirit of Christ. What does that mean? Jesus did exactly what the woman above did. He submitted Himself completely to the Father, just as the woman did to Christ. Anyway, you can see where I am going.
Your use of the phrases Kingdom provisions and Kingdom portion are frightening. Please tell me you have not fallen for the false teachings of the Dominion Theology people. We are not little gods running around doing the work of the one, true God. It is not about us, it is about God, and Jesus Christ who He sent!
