Positive/Negative, Right/Wrong, ~~~ There is a third choice!

Adam and Eve had two choices; to eat of the forbidden tree or not to eat of the forbidden tree, right? Wrong; there was a third choice only subtly mentioned in scripture called 'fellowship';

Genesis 3:8 " Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day"

Apparently this was a time when God walked with mankind, therefore we had tree choices : Right, Wrong, Fellowship.

Is it any different today? Ever since we ate from that tree we have been overly concerned with right and wrong and still fail to recognize that third choice, that was until Jesus came and wrote the third choice in his blood.

Here are three men who amazingly recognized the third choice even before Jesus:

Enoch ~ walked with God, then was no more.

Abraham ~ God referred to him as His friend.

David ~ a man after God's own heart.

None of them were sinless, yet all had fellowship with God.

I think Fellowship is the result. If we make the right choice, we have fellowship with God; If we make the wrong choice, there's no fellowship with Him at all.

God Bless,

Deborah

I do think that Adam and Eve had a chance to choose to follow and/or "fellowship" with God after they sinned, but they completely rejected Him and His help/love, and instead of seeking repentance/forgiveness, they hid from Him and blamed everyone/everything for their sin but themselves. They didn't trust that God was a loving God that would find a "Way" to bring them back. Satan was successful in turning their minds away from God, and caused them to distrust/disbelieve His loving character.

"Why would He withhold this godlike knowledge of good and evil?! He's selfish! And then He threatened to kill us if we did!! He's a tyrant!"

When in reality God was trying to protect them and the rest of the universe from the horrible effects of sin/death.

I'm in agreement with Deborah here, seems to me the choices and results there of are simple and the same today or back then...

Believe and be in fellowship or reject Truth and be out of fellowship with God.

@ 2 small birds:

Had Adam and Eve not sinned, yet had taken of tree of life, they would not have had the close intimate relationship we have with YHWH today.

Adam would have been walking with YHWH for eternity, yet not Having the Holy Spirit within.

Walking with YHWH is great, but it is even better to have The Holy Spirit within me.

Adam would have had physical life for eternity.

Believers have spiritual life for eterinty.

There is a big difference.

I think you are on to something here, being overly concerned about right and wrong. That is exactly what the serpent wanted them to believe. The big lie..."you can be like God, knowing right and wrong." Satan wanted them to think they could know more than God.

Oddly enough, it is seen in the Church. Some mistakenly believe they have special knowledge over others. It comes accross as legalistic and judgemental. A little knowledge can be dangerous. It is a mental condition, pride. The choice is in discerning the spirits. :waving:

Trucker,

You shared:

"Had Adam and Eve not sinned, yet had taken of tree of life, they would not have had the close intimate relationship we have with YHWH today. Adam would have been walking with YHWH for eternity, yet not Having the Holy Spirit within."

* I believe your statement goes beyond what scripture reveals, but for the sake of discussion : Who is to say the "tree of life" doesn't impart the Holy Spirit to the one that eats its fruit?
