There have been countless articles and books written on the topic of the end time. Some are very thoughtful, intellectual, cultural, philosophical, and ingenious ideas on the subject. However, many in the Christian world, and other religions, miss the mark when evaluating or theorizing about this subject (as an aside, the Greek word for sin "Hamartia" means literally "missing the mark"). If you put 100 great human minds together and ask them their ideas on the so-called end-times, you would have 100 different theories, although very much the same. So today we have an endless morass of humanly originated theories, some ridiculous, some very interesting and many that tickle the human fancy for some exciting, conspiratorial explanation of the unknown. None are accurate.
The myth that we wish to address here is the commonly held Christian myth of the end-time and the rapture. I do not doubt that other religions, peoples, philosophies and cultures have their own theories but since the Bible holds obvious preeminence as the most read book in history, I am going to refer to it, as the main-line Christian world does to support their theories.
The mainline Christian theory, what Christian religion ascribes to, is in a nutshell this: At some point, we will enter into a 7-year period referred to as The Tribulation. Most believe that before this period, the real Christians will be taken out of the earth or raptured so they don't have to suffer the catastrophes of the tribulation. As it goes, the pilot of the 747 will be snatched from his seat, the driver from his car and all that will be left on earth will be the wicked and unbelieving.
The tribulation continues through the 7 trumpets, the 7 seals, the 7 bowls with the 7 woes and the plagues (see generally Revelation Chapters 6-11, 15-16). Amidst this, the great beast arises out of the sea with 7 heads and 10 horns followed by the anti-Christ, who together deceive everyone and reign on the earth as satanic lords. A plan is initiated for the satanic control on the economics of the world whereby no one can buy or sell without selling out to Satan, thus the stamp of the famous 666.
Satan is finally defeated in a great battle on earth called Armageddon. Then Christ returns together with all his people who had already died as well as those previously raptured.
All the above is derived from a literal, human, intellectual interpretation of the Bible. The end-time rapture theory even provides a roadmap type chronology or time-line of the events that will take place, and when. It is very impressive. It gives one a sense of security who believes that if he/she is righteous they will escape the suffering to take place on the earth. This rolls everything into a nice little ball, but unfortunately God does not do things the way we think He does. He says:
For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways, declares the LORD.
For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways
And My thoughts than your thoughts (Isaiah 55:8-9).
The truth is that end-time events, as well as any part of the Bible, cannot be interpreted mentally. The Revelation of the end-time was a spiritual vision. John, the writer of Revelation, says in Rev. 1:10 "and I was in the Spirit on the Lord's Day. In Revelation 4:2 he says: I had heard, like the sound of a trumpet speaking with me, said, Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after these things. Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne was standing in heaven, and One sitting on the throne. Also the end-time prophecies in Daniel, Revelation, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel and others were spoken from the Spirit describing things that eye has not seen or ear hasnt heard, not necessarily referring to world events we consider significant.
The final temple described by Ezekiel (Chapters 40-47) is not a literal temple in physical Israel as some think but is a representation of the spiritual temple of the Kingdom of God. When the prophets prophecy that the fortunes of Israel will be restored, they are not speaking of a fulfillment in the current nation of Israel, but in the spiritual Israel of the Kingdom of God. In Galatians 2:28-29 Paul dismisses this myth by stating: For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh. But he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that which is of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter.
When Jeremiah said: this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the LORD, I will put My law within them and on their heart I will write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people, he does not refer to physical Israel but to the Saints of the Kingdom. Whereas ancient Israel was charged with literally obeying the law in order to obtain righteousness, under the New Covenant of Christ righteousness was obtained by faith in Jesus Christ. Having the law written on their hearts they became the law and are able to fulfill it.
Actually, the emphasis on this time period as the "end-time" is misplaced. It should be known as the beginning time, the time of Christ's return to earth to rule and reign in the New Heaven, the New earth and the New Jerusalem (Revelation 21:1-2. The tabernacle of God will not be a tabernacle made with hands but will be a a period where God exists in a temple made of His people; He will tabernacle with us. As John said: And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell [literally tabernacle used as a verb] among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them, and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away (Revelation 21:3-4).
We, as Christians, become, in our perfected states, His dwelling place. And coming to Him as to a living stone which has been rejected by men, but is chosen and precious in the sight of God, you also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ (1 Peter 2:4-5).
This is a literal spiritual fulfillment on the earth. Christ said in the Sermon on the Mount:
Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven (Matthew 6:9-10).
The only problem is that we do not know how things are done in heaven. What we do know is whatever we know about heaven (the spiritual realm where God lives) has to come by Him revealing it to us. Other than that, it is past finding out. God only gives us what we need to walk with Him today. He is not the author of the confusion that swirls about the various human interpretations of God and events. That is why Christ told us to pray that way. We are asking for His will to be done, not ours,
Most of the terrible events enunciated in Revelation are judgments on the wicked. Christ said that there will be signs in the earth and sun, perplexity on the peoples, men fainting for fear, the powers of the heavens will be shaken but when we see these things come to pass we are to "look up because our redemption draws near" (Matthew 21:25-28). Many of these conditions we see now as they have been seen for thousands of years (war, famine, plagues etc). Many if not most of the events described in Revelation have already taken place.
The rapture, the centerpiece of dispensational Christianity, was first promulgated in the early 1800s as a counter-doctrine to Catholicism. The 7-year tribulation period was added. As Catholicism promised security to their people, so the rapture theory was acceptable as an alternative since it too offered more security to the point the believer could actually avoid any suffering and tribulation. The rapture theory does not make any sense anyway, and certainly does not represent the ways of God. It leaves man in a non-active state, waiting for something to happen, rather than initiating its happening. Again, this is the giving of false security that keeps people coming to church and giving, because everyone thrives on feeling secure and serene.
The rapture theory is based on two scriptures:
1 Thessalonians 4:13-17 says:
But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope.
For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep.
For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord.
The rapture theorists seize on this scripture as meaning they will be caught up into the air and then come back with Christ at His coming. An accurate reading of the scripture obviously means that Christ will bring with Him those who have DIED in Christ to meet the saints who remain on earth. Since Christ does not come until the conclusion of the tribulation that means who remain have gone through it, not been raptured.
Secondly rapture theorists use the scripture the following scripture::
And just as it happened in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man:
they were eating, they were drinking, they were marrying, they were being given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.
I tell you, on that night there will be two in one bed; one will be taken and the other will be left.
There will be two women grinding at the same place; one will be taken and the other will be left. Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other will be left. (Luke 17:26-27, 34-37).
In those verses it clearly states that, just as in the days of Noah, the righteous (Noah) will be left while the wicked will be taken away in judgment. Rapture theorists have it the other way around. They velieve that the righteous will be taken and the wicked left. That didnt happen in Noahs time. Nowhere in the Bible is there a reference to a rapture of believers either before or after the tribulation (see http://www.christian-rapture.com/ for further details of the rapture theory)
Weve said all this to say that if one wishes to interpret the "end-times", from a Christian perspective, or any perspective, he/she must look to their God for an explanation. There are so many reasons and grinding axes today that color man's interpretations of almost everything to the point that it seems that there must be hundreds of gods all with different ways of doing things. Focusing, as most of Christianity does, on the negative, the bad that will happen unless the sinner keeps returning to church, is a main focus. The perverted form of the church is today is more focused on human motives of and rampant commercialism than they are about preaching the truth. Most famous ministers of large churches preach their own interpretations, not Gods, and have largely egotistical and financial motives.
In that vein, the Bible says that Satan disguises himself as an angel of light and his ministers as ministers of righteousness (2 Corinthians 11:14-15). Satans angelic name Lucifer means light bearer or bright morning star. Religion is perhaps his biggest deception in keeping people of God bound into doctrines and laws to earn Gods approval, thus blinding people from the truth. . God is not interested in any righteousness we can work up in our flesh nature; as a matter of fact God calls our righteousness filthy rags. (Isaiah 64:6).
Many of the events recorded in Revelation, according to some scholars, have already occurred. John wrote Revelation in about 96 A.D. some two thousand years ago. Some of the future to him is the past to us. Many events are deciphered by many people in many different ways. Daniels prophecies clearly referred to events done before Christs first advent. Many prophecies refer to nations of the world which have come and gone i.e. the Assyrians, Chaldeans/Babylonians, the Greeks, Macedonians, Scythians and of course Rome.
The two beasts with the horns and heads, coming out of the sea of humanity. represent nations and kings that were important to God because of their hate of Israel. They were manifestations of Satan on the earth. In the end-time they all come together in the form of two beasts, the culmination of Satans plan as he opposes the bringing forth of Christs Kingdom.
Finally, as to the great mystery of the symbolic Mark of the Beast, 666, the best meaning is as follows: 6 is the scriptural number of man, being below 7 the number of God (scripture says man was created for a little while below the angels). Three 6's probably refer to the beast (the nations), the false prophet (deception) and the anti-Christ spirit. Thus 666 represents the three manifestations of Satan on the earth, the result of his centuries of planning. Scripture says a "three-fold cord is not easily broken" (Ecclesiastes 4:12). The unification of these three manifestations is Satan's last, best attempt to assert his rule and reign on the earth, in direct opposition to Christs bringing forth His Kingdom. Of course, he was not successful. Note that receiving the mark refers to the economic realm which Satan seeks to control.
The end-time is concluded with the new heaven and new earth coming down from heaven like a bride adorned for her husband (Rev. Chapters 21-22).
There is much to be learned but let's look to the author and finisher of our faith to get answers to what we really need in order to complete His will on earth. Everything else is but a distraction to our true purpose.
I read it ALL on my phone and find your theroy to be no more or less plausible than many others. So what do I believe? Am I pre-tribulation or mid-trib or post-trib? As J. Vernan McGee put it "I am pan-trib ; 'however it pans out'"
But could you do me a favor? Just in case the pre-tribulation theroy is correct ; would you feed my dogs and horses for me please.
I was listening to National Public Radio (National Propaganda Radio) this morning and they were talking to some political researcher about the election coming up and how the reseacher had divided U.S. counties into twelve types. He mentioned that some of the U.S. county types were heavily
influenced by evangelical Christians. Evengelical Protestant Christians are almost all followers of dispensationalism, which includes the pre-trib rapure of the church and Jewish supremacy, or the belief that unsaved Jews are now the chosen people. Dispensationalism has a political influence on U.S. policy which can be empirically demonstrated.
Some sites on the Internet argue that the ruling elite in England and in the U.S. encouraged the development of dispensationalism in order to develop Christian support for Zionism. This does not mean that the ruling elite was or is mainly Jewish, but that the elite had some reason for wanting Christian support for the national of Israel.
See http://www.journalhome.com/remnant/126659/the-origins-of-dispensationalist-theology.html
John Hagee's Christians United For Israel (CUFI) represents the extreme end of this dispensationalist influence upon national policy, especially in the Middle East.
There is a whole scenario, including a fairly detailed series of events, involved in the dispensationalist story of what is to happen right before, during and after the tribulation. This scenario has little grounding in Scripture, though the dispensationalists make it appear it has a basis in the Bible.
The rapture of the church in this scenario is to happen before the Anti-Christ comes on the stage and takes over. Apparently the dispensationalist Anti-Christ is to be a political type leader.
But John in I John 2: 18-22, and I John 4: 3 says
"Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.
19. They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us. 20. But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.
21. I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.
22. Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son....And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world."
John is saying that the Anti-Christ spirit is one which inspires a person to deny that Jesus Christ came in human flesh and that he was and is God. John says as part of this discussion that "They went out from us, but they were not of us' for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us." But he does not tell us who "they" were.
We can infer that "they" were once believers and part of the Christian community, which included John, but "they" departed from that community and the implication is that they had the Anti-Christ spirit, and rejected the Gospel teaching that Christ as fully God came in human flesh and was fully man.
So the Anti-Christ spirit is not one man during the tribulation period, as described by John, but is a spiritual condition of rejecting the salvation of Jesus Christ by denying he is God, that he came in human flesh, and died for our sins. In addition, the Anti-Christ spirit is not basically political in nature; its a spiritual nature.
Going back to the Old Covenant and following aspects of the
"first" (Hebrews 10: 9) or Old Covenant rather than following Christ only, as in the present day Hebrew Roots Movement, is of the spirit of Anti-Christ.
In some versions of the dispensationalisat end time scenario, the one man political leader - the Anti-Christ - is said to make a treaty with the national of Israel. In fact, some dispensationalists say the Anti-Christ cannot make his appearance until after the Jewish temple has been re-built in Jerusalem and animal sacrifices have resumed. Then, the Anti-Christ goes back on his treaty, causes the sacrifice of a pig in the temple and this is the abomination of desolation.
But Christ and his armies are, in the dispensationalist scenario, are to defeat the Anti-Christ and his armies at the Battle of Armageddon, which dispensationalists say will be a literal battle. Christ does not have to fight the Anti-Christ in some literal battle in Israel. Christ has already defeated Satan, and at the end of the tribulation only has to tell one of his Arch-angels that its time to bind Satan.
The thousand year millennium in the dispensationalist scenario is to be a predominantly Jewish kingdom on earth, though Gentile Christians will take part in it.
Woe means grievous distress, affliction, or trouble!
Woes Against Human Religion
Jesus' woes are the angry laments of wounded love, incited by compassion for those whom religious leaders have led astray (see 23:37). Second-century rabbis, probably passing on many ideas from the Pharisees of Jesus' day, harshly condemned hypocrisy (for example, t. Yoma 5:12). Christians today often think of "Pharisees" as hypocrites and hence do not feel threatened when hearing them denounced. But the Pharisees' contemporaries thought of them as very devoted practitioners of the Bible, and of the scribes as experts in biblical laws. In today's terms, Jesus was thundering against many popular preachers and people who seemed to be living holy lives--because they were practicing human religion rather than serving God with purified hearts.
I suspect that much of what passes for Christianity today is little more than human religion with the name of Jesus tacked onto it, because like most of the religion of Jesus' contemporaries, it has failed to transform its followers into Christ's servants passionately devoted to his mission in the world. When rightly understood, Jesus' woes may strike too close to home for comfort. When religion becomes a veneer of holiness to conceal unholy character, it makes its bearers less receptive to God's transforming grace.Religious Leaders Sometimes Do More Harm Than Good (23:13-15) Jesus first accuses these religious leaders of "shutting" off the kingdom, using the image of a majordomo, a prominent official who carried keys (16:19; Is 22:22; Rev 3:7). This may allude to scribes' purported authority to "bind" and "loose" by their knowledge of the law (Mt 16:19), here used to hinder would-be followers of Christ. Thus they are blind guides of the blind (23:16, 19, 24; compare 15:14).
Enoch 1122 commented: The tribulation continues through the 7 trumpets, the 7 seals, the 7 bowls with the 7 woes and the plagues (see generally Revelation Chapters 6-11, 15-16).
In Revelation you have 1st the 7 seals, then the 7 Trumpets and
Gods Wrath is the 7 bowls (Times of Jacobs Trouble) Wrath all in chronological order
The Great Tribulation is the 70th week of Daniel or the last 7 years. In the middle or the last 3 years or 1260 days the Anti Christ reign which is (Satans wrath) . You will know the end is here when the 2 witnesses are killed and 3 days later resurrected and are caught up to heaven.
This is when the last trumpet is sounded, the dead first will rise and the rapture happens, then Wrath of God begins
Revelation 8:13
And I looked, and (1) I heard an eagle flying in midheaven, saying with a loud voice, (2) "Woe, woe, woe, to (3) those who dwell on the earth, because of the (4) remaining blasts of the trumpet of the three angels who are about to sound!"
1. I heard an eagle flying in midheaven, saying = is obviously a figure of speech. One cannot hear an eagle flying, but normally one sees an eagle flying. Equally, eagles do not speak normally. It is possible that this particular eagle will speak in the same way Balaams donkey spoke (Num 22:22-30). However, a solution that is more probable is that the eagle is a figure of speech. The actions of an angelic being moving in midheaven can be compared to an eagle flying in the sky. Flying suggests horizontal movement rather than the descending/ascending movement typical of angels.
2. Woe, woe, woe = a sign of trouble. The three "woes" are critical to the debate concerning the chronology of the Revelation. See the discussion of the structure of the book for more details.
3. Those who dwell on the earth = this is the third occurrence of this important phrase. The eagle makes clear that the intended victims of the trumpet judgments are the earth-dwellers. These individuals are consistently portrayed throughout the Revelation as enemies of God and the objects of Gods wrath.
4. Remaining blasts = there are three blasts or trumpets left to blow. These three trumpets are the three "woes." The severity of the three last trumpets is clearly emphasized.
Revelation 8:13 (NIV) ... "Woe! Woe! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth, because of the trumpet blasts about to be sounded by the other three angels!" The 5th trumpet must be something even more serious to merit such a special warning that even Wormwood did not have. It is. It begins the GT when the Antichrist takes over by offering the only solution to Wormwood's mess. (We'll pick up that thread in the Revelation Roadmap.)

Enoch1122 commented:
1 Corinthians 14:33 for God is not a God of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.
God means what he says and says what he means! Literally speaking!
Dont try to put in on the jews, they are only 2 tribes of the 12 tribes of Israel. We are all decedents of the 12 lost tribes. If you dont understand something literally dont break scripture with some kind of view about being something spiritual or historically happening.
When you state the final temple, thats confusing! Are you talking about the 3rd Temple or New Jerusalem? Are you stating that Israel has not been restored as a nation? That it is a spiritual Israel? The 3rd temple is ready to be rebuilt now!
Google 3rd temple and new Jerusalem or http://www.truthnet.org/endtimes/7/ www.thepropheticyears.com/reasons/Jews.htm
Since 1948, when Israel retained their nation just as the Bible said it would literally happened in the spring in exact year in the prophecy in Ezekiel 4:1-8 and in Leviticus 26: 18-27 warnings to Israel 7 times over minus the 70 years of Babylon Captivity 2483.8 in our years ago. The formula for this exact year and month starts with the exact time that the Babylon captivity ended which was in 536.4 B.C. 390 and 40 biblical years 70 years for the years in captivity = 360 Biblical years or 907,200 days. Divide 365.25 days (our calendar year) into 907,200 biblical days you come up with 2483.8 years and add 1 year for no year between 1BC and 1 AD you come up with 2484.8. By subtracting 536.4 B.C. years you come up with 1948.4 AD. On May 14th 1948 Israel became a nation once again.
