After thoroughly examining the New Testament compared to the major Christian religions I have found there exists two distinctly different doctrines for Christianity. When popular religions are compared to Gods word literally, the contrast is as different as day and night.
Ill give some of the more obvious differences. I think it would be a beneficial study for a serious student of scripture to make for I believe the reader will be rewarded with a new perspective concerning religion and Gods word.
Most people follow their conscience in choosing their church and choose whatever their conscientious or feelings lead them. Mans religions state the church of your choice.
In Gods word, He says he is only building one church with one faith.
Ephesians 4:4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
According to Gods word if we want to please Him we have no choice other than follow his instructions to please Him.
2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
I have often heard it said there are many ways or avenues to God with many beliefs that all arrive in truth.
Yet, Christ said in his word there is only one way for the road is narrow to life.
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
The road that leads to Christ is narrow and not broad.
Matthew 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
Popular thinking is the highly esteemed observance of holy days such as Christmas, Easter and the many traditions that comprise these holy days. These holy days are rooted in mans philosophic religion.
Gods word says: Luke 16:15 And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.
Gods word says:
Galatians 4:9 But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?
10 Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years.
11 I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labour in vain.
Jeremiah 10:2 Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.
3 For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.
4 They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.
5 They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good.
Why would God hate this practice and not want Israel to partake of it, and since Gods nature is holy and unchanging, why would he sanction it today
Colossians 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
Colossians 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
One last thought that Esaias said on Christs behalf.
Matthew 15:8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
Lanes analysis is correct. Consequently, I was surprised to read the :My will, My choice, all paths lead to God response. Who can call themselves a follower of Jesus Christ and claim to redeemed?
The real issue before us is the issue of submission. The fall touched Eve first and she lives today it seems in all her free thinking glory.
