Been reading "Foxes Book of Martyrs" . Reading about men and women who were tortured, burned alive while praying and beating their breast until their arm fell off and their lips stuck to their teeth, beheaded, drowned, eaten alive by lions, wrapped in netting and thrown to a bull, made to sit on a iron chair heated with fire, roasted alive on a iron bed, not to mention years of beatings, starvation and imprisonment in the worst conditions beforehand leaving their spouses and chidden behind. And my biggest fear is to be embarrassed before my peers? I am taking a look at my feet ; are they even on the right path?

Everyone has a different calling...but your right, are we doing enough?

Thank God its not by works that we get into heaven.

I've got a strong stomach. I listen to grindcore and death metal. I'm a horror fan, but I couldn't make it through Foxe's Book of Martyrs. It's very convicting but also very gruesome.

@ Everyone:

Yes I have also read foxes Book of Modern Martyrs;

Yet why do we in America thinkh Persecution is a bad thing.

Is not persecution the means by which the Gospel went beyond Israel.

Persecution strengthens the believers and weeds out the tares.

If-If-If the Gospel is rightly proclaimed we could expect persecution.

Is this not what Yeshua promised.

John 15:17 These things I command you, that ye love one another.

John 15:18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.

John 15:19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

John 15:20 Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.

John 15:21 But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me.

Oh i forgot,this verse is not in the nice little promise books.

Shalom and Chesed:

St.George
