2. And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit.
3. And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power.
4. And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads.

Revelation 9: 11-12: "And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon.
12. One woe is past; and, behold, there come two woes more hereafter."
The angel of the bottomless pit - Abaddon or Apollyon - is a fallen angel or demon spirit who rules over other demon spirits. This strongly suggests that the "locusts" who are released when the bottomless pit is opened are demon spirits.
Revelation 11: 7 : "And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them."
"They" are the Two Witnesses of Revelation 11, who are probably metaphoric. The Two Witnesses are to be killed by the beast who got out of the bottomless pit. The beast from the bottomless pit is a high level fallen angel.
Revelation 17: 3-8' "So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.
4. And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication:
5. And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.
6. And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration.
7. And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns.
8. The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is."
Again, the beast than comes up out of the bottomless pit is a high level fallen angel.
Revelation 20: 1-3: "And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.
2. And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
3. And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season."
The bottomless pit, as a restraint on the fallen angels, or a prison into which they are placed, is to be used again in the future to restrain Satan himself.
So, the bottomless pit is a place where fallen angels are kept in prison so they are restrained from harming men.
Strong's Exhaustive Concordance says:
Number 12: "Bottomless: Greek: abussos, ab'-ussos
from 1 (as a negative particle) and a variation of 1037; depthless, i.e. (specially) (infernal) "abyss":--deep, (bottomless) pit.
1037 :a variation of 899; depth, i.e. (by implication) the sea:--deep.
Number 5421: Pit : Greek:phrear, freh'-ar
of uncertain derivation; a hole in the ground (dug for obtaining or holding water or other purposes), i.e. a cistern or well; figuratively, an abyss (as a prison):--well, pit."
A pit can be a water well and it could also be an oil well.
The BP Oil Blowout Disaster can be seen as pointing to the opening of the bottomless pit. Whether it is the opening of the bottomless pit, or is just a kind of reminder of that event happening in the spiritual realm at some time, perhaps not far off, remains to be seen.
what is shown looks like clouds of smoke gushing out of a hole. This
is an underwater video.
Revelation 9: 2 says "...And he opened the bottomless pit; and there
arose a smoke out of the pit..."
Thats what the video seems to show, though we know the hole out of
which the "smoke" is rising is at the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico.
And - apparently its not smoke from a fire which the video is showing,
but gas perhaps mixed with oil.
Revelation 9: 3 says "And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the

The locusts, or scorpions, coming out of the smoke from the opening of
the bottomless pit is metaphoric, and literal scorpions are not
expected to come out of some literal hole.
Revelation 9: 5 says "...that they should be tormented five months:
and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion..."
There are no good reasons to expect the BP oil blowout to last exactly 150 or 151 days.
There have been reports of the dispersant Corexit used in massive
amounts in the Gulf coming down in the rain over parts of the eastern
U.S., and some say this has caused brown-black spots on some trees. I
posted parts of an article on the break up of the Gulf Loop Current
and the warm Atlantic Gulf Stream, due to Corexit and maybe oil too.
Authorities have said that fish from the Gulf is safe to eat, and if
this is not true and the fish is contaminated with Corexit, eating
fish from the Gulf may kill many Americans. So, what the mainstream
media has called an "oil spill" is likely to be an event much larger
in scope than an oil spill. How large cannot be determined now, but it
has the potential of being big.
Some have said that BP drilled into the side of an asphalt volcano in
the Gulf, which contained a huge amount of oil and gas under great
pressure. They say that there are other asphalt volcanoes under the
Gulf of Mexico and perhaps BP should have expected a blow out to
occur which would cause problems.

they say; "In 1973 a group of scientists were doing some tests along the ocean bottom in the Gulf of Mexico, near the Yucatan peninsula, and apparently near the point of impact of the supposed Dinosaur Killer Asteroid in Chicxulub Mexico when they discovered something quite strange. A sea mount, or an under water volcano that had erupted asphalt, or oil...These volcanoes apparently are filled with both Methane and Oil and instead of erupting lava, or igneous rock are instead erupting Methane and Oil. The ocean floor is pocked with sea mounts, and though not all of them are Asphalt Volcanoes, many are likely either Asphalt Volcanoes or Mud Volcanoes which erupt mud instead of Lava or Oil, or Methane."
"There are some structures near to the New Horizon BP well that seem to be sea mounts. It is quite likely that BP drilled very close or on top of one of these Sea Mounts. Any seepage from such a Sea Mount is probably going to be volcanic in origin. The nature of Asphalt Volcanoes is complex, and the theories behind them are far from standard."
An active asphalt or oil volcano would have oil and gas under great pressure. Apparently, the pressure would have been greater had BP drilled into the top of the volcano. People have reported tar balls washing up on Gulf beaches, which could very well be from the oil volcano.
I find it interesting...Some persons seek or are given confirmation of events that fit nicely into Revelations...or End Time Prophesies...

"Dispensationalism is a system of biblical interpretation formalized in the nineteenth century by John Nelson Darby and later popularized by the publishing of the study Bible of C. I. Scofield and the establishment of Dallas Theological Seminary by Lewis Sperry Chafer. It is the foundation of what is known in eschatological studies as "pre-tribulational premillenialism" and involves the division of history into (usually) seven distinct periods of time known as "dispensations". Twentieth century writers such as John Walvoord, Dwight Pentecost, and Charles Ryrie brought the doctrines of Dispensationalism into mainstream scholarship, which are often summarized by Ryrie's famous "sine qua non", i.e., his statement of the three primary tenets of the system. Remnant Christians agree with the third statement above that the glory of God is the
primary goal of history. The world does not recognize this however.
The Calvinist or Covenant theologian who wrote the above statement summarizing dispensationalism goes on to say that "We believe there is one people of God, rooted in the Abrahamic Covenant, united in Christ, and consisting of both Jew and Gentile alike."
Christians who belong to the Remnant would agree that there is only one people of God, untied in Christ, and consisting of both Jew and Gentile. We find statements in several New Testament books supporting the idea that ethnic Israel was transformed into Israel reborn in Christ, though only a small remnant of ethnic Israel was so transformed by being born again in Jesus.
Remnant Christians, however, do not follow all the doctrines of Calvinism. Remnant Christians follow an end time view very similar to Historic Premillennialism, or post-tribulational premillennialism, which says that the second coming of Jesus Christ will occur prior to a thousand-year reign of the saints, but after the great apostasy and the tribulation. We do not believe God deals differently with the "Church" and Israel, as does dispensationalist premillennialism, which has made up the doctrine of the pre-tribulation rapture.

Stephen H. Tyng, Jr., host of the first International Prophetic Conference in 1878, said Common sense proved that "a literal rendering is always to be given in the reading of Scripture, unless the context makes it absurd."
But how do you determine if a dispensationalist interpretation of a prophecy is absurd?
Hal Lindsey makes use of the dispensationalist literalist
interpretation of prophecy in suggesting in his New World Coming (1973), that the locusts of Revelation 9: 3, etc might be an advanced kind of helicopter.

One problem is that popular dispensationalists contradict one another in their literalist inerpretations of the Book of Revelation.For example, in their interpretation of Revelation 9:13-19, Tim LaHaye and Hal Lindsey contradict one another.
Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins say the 200 million army of Revelation 9: 16 are a supernatural horde of 200 million demonic horsemen while for Hal Lindsey and Schuyler English they are literal Chinese soldiers.

From Hal Lindsey and Tim LaHaye's writings, it seems that in practice dispensationalist literalism is not necessarily any more consistent or free of bias than any other system of Bible interpretation. And it may lead to a failure in understanding of Bible prophecy. What if the main purpose of the tribulation was to send a fire upon the church (Zechariah 13: 8-9), to purge it and bring out some who arrive at the truth, and to judge the church (I Peter 4: 17, Hebrews 10: 30)? Their entire system, including literal interpretation and the pre-tribulation rapture, can cause them to miss the beginning of the tribulation and not to know its main purpose is to deal with the falling away of II Thessalonians 2: 3.
How would a dispensationalist using the literal method of interpretation deal with the bottomless pit?
Is it a hole in the ground on the earth? On Land, or under the sea? Or is it in outer space? Wherever it is, literal things are to come flying out of the pit when it is opened.
Some dispensationalists might say the pit is on the earth and on land. Others might say its under the sea. Or, it might be in outer space. What comes flying out might be literal locusts, or might be modern helicopters, or demons that people can see. What arises when the pit is opened are demons, but its not likely we will be able to see them.
Halfback, I do agree Revelation means revealing divine things that must happen before our Lord will come for us.

Most pastors have problem understanding Revelation because it deals with End of Times which we are living in today. I admire what you are trying to understand but to do it correctly, it takes a large note book and many years to figure all of it out. Remember Jesus said all things must be fulfilled before he comes again.
There are 19 more phophecies that must be fulfilled before his coming. Only 1 is left not talked about in Revelation which is the next phophecy concerning Israel and the middle east war against many nations surrounding her.
The next major prophecy will be the Middle East War that is described in Psalm 83, Zech 12, and Isaiah 17. Israel will win in a single day with God�s help as in past wars (Isaiah 17:13-14) by bring out the nukes in the Samson Option before America or Russia can get involved. Iran's nuclear program under Ahmadinejad may bring it about. This will make possible many things possible such as gatherings on the Temple Mount and the building of the Third Temple.

Once sealed their mission begins of warning people in Rev 14. They go 2 by 2 preaching the everlasting Gospel. Rev 14:6, Matthew 24:14 while unharmed even during the Great Tribulation.
Revelation 6 is where the 6th seal is opened which ends in your chapter 9 you speak about.
Let's look at where PX fits the Book of Revelation, the most important prophetic book in the Bible�and the only one that generally sets things in clear chronological order. Rather than cover the traditional arguments about whether As mentioned earlier, it was only because of my familiarity with Scripture that I chose not to ignore the seemingly absurd and unconfirmed rumors of Planet X when I first heard them in 2002. At that time I was already two years into a period of renewed interest in prophecy prompted by my exposure to a new breed of prophecy teachers who emerged at the end of the '90s out of the Messianic and Hebraic Roots movements. Excited by their fresh ideas, I found myself researching, studying, discussing, and thinking about Bible prophecy on a daily basis. This was possible because I worked on the Internet programming Bible software for a remote client. This lead to a number of new conclusions and insights.
One of the things that came out of this prior research was the conclusion that the four trumpets of Revelation 8 described an incendiary meteorite storm, an asteroid impacting the ocean, and our atmosphere polluted from volcanic activity with enough dust to block a third of all the light from the Sun, Moon, and stars. While I was not sure what �Wormwood� could be, I was convinced that we would soon find out when all of these things came to pass right before the Feast of Pentecost (early summer) of the year before the GT began. Given this timing, I saw that this would be the trigger event to the rise of the global Beast government (spoken of in Revelation and Daniel). In other words, before I even heard about PX, I was already convinced that a group of one or more celestial bodies headed our way would be responsible for what Revelation 8 literally described. So as far as I was concerned, if science would not confirm PX's coming, the Books of Revelation and Daniel already did.
Revelation is literal or only figurative and whether the seals, trumpets and bowls happen sequentially or happen in parallel, we will just jump right in reading it naturally. This is because PX so perfectly fits what Revelation literally says, that it can silence these debates forever. The only reason that these old debates have raged for centuries is because no one could conceive until the end times how the details of Revelation 6, 7 and 8 could literally be fulfilled just as written. (In fact, it was only in recent decades that scientists accepted that major asteroid impacts could happen on Earth). When information does not fit our paradigm, there is a tendency to distort it, and in this case this �paradigm blindness� forces people to rearrange the natural order of events and/or change their natural, literal meaning to make some sense of it. However, there is no reason to play around with the verses in that way once the previously missing
information about the existence and threat of PX is realized.
The 6th Seal Through The 4th Trumpet
That brings us up to verse 12 and the 6th seal, which is the first seal that does not possibly fit with any historical event. It is therefore properly considered the next seal to be fulfilled. We will next see how the 6 th seal fits what is expected to happen as Planet X makes its closest approach to Earth, and how the 7 th seal, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th trumpets fit what is expected to happen after PX has passed and we encounter its debris.
It would be an understatement to call this a frightening scene! This should make every one of us wonder if we are going to experience this event personally�and whether we will survive it. For the best chance of surviving anything, it helps to understand exactly what it entails. So let's take inventory of everything that we have described here:
A Great Earthquake
Until recent times, this description of a global earthquake moving every island and mountain out of place must have sounded fantastic. I remember doubting its literalness myself�until the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake. That 9.3 magnitude quake caused Sumatra to move over 100 feet out of place. Just imagine a 9.0+ quake everywhere, before a single impact on Earth. There is understandably not much research on near earth objects (NEO) causing earthquakes, but astronomers admit the possibility. It may be no coincidence that the greatest quake in America, the New Madrid of 1812 (approx. 8.0 magnitude) occurred after the Great Comet of 1811 finished its closest approach.
A Total Solar Eclipse & A Total Lunar Eclipse?
The Sun black as sackcloth of goat's hair describes a solar eclipse well. When the Sun is eclipsed, the rays of the corona look much like wispy goat hair coming out from the jet-black middle. Conversely, if the Sun is only blocked by something in the atmosphere, rather than the Moon, it would appear to be only dimmed (just as we will see at the 4 th trumpet) without appearing black as sackcloth. For the Sun itself to appear black, you have to have light escaping around it, making a contrast with the jet black middle, exactly as we see in total solar eclipses. A lunar eclipse would fit the Moon turning blood red and how some manuscripts say full moon which is when lunar eclipses happen. If the sackcloth sun is indeed a solar eclipse then this would place a two-week gap between these two eclipses. Just don't consult an eclipse table to predict when it will happen. Such tables don't factor in the star Wormwood, seen later as responsible for all of this. Solar or lunar eclipses do not happen every month because the orbit of the moon is offset five degrees from the Earth's. Therefore, most of the time the Moon is above or below the Earth's shadow and no eclipse happens even though it is a full moon. If the Earth or Moon were perturbed by a visitor to our solar system, an
unexpected eclipse could occur. There is also the possibility that Revelation (and the parallel in Joel 2:30) is describing something more significant. It could be describing a simultaneous lunar and solar eclipse. This would of course require another body to pass between Earth and the Sun at the time of the full moon, but subsequent details require a NEO to explain them as well.
Meteor Shower
Some of the previous four events may describe things that we are all familiar with and therefore are not unique by them-
selves (but significant if they happen in rapid succession together as in this case). But, when we have �the heavens de-
parting like a scroll� and �every mountain and island being moved from their place� in relation to each other, this is
something new to modern man. We are not talking about continental drift here at the rate that your fingernails grow. It is a sudden global catastrophe. This fits the expectation that PX's gravity and magnetic field will be so strong as to cause the crust and mantle of the Earth to get out of sync and exhibit wrinkles or �crustal/mantle waves.� The heavens departing like a scroll is more difficult to explain. Comparing another description of this event in Isaiah helps:
The best explanation for the �stars falling to Earth� is not actual impacts from stars but a meteor shower, also commonly called �shooting stars�. Notice that it says it will be like figs falling from a tree in a mighty wind or like the �sky dissolving/rotting/crumbling� which also would be the impression given by a meteor shower. PX is reported by those who have observed it to be dragging much debris and dust with it. If such a debris trail were left in our path from PX intersecting our orbit just ahead of us, this would cause a meteor shower as described. This, by the way, is also how regular annual meteor showers like the Lyrids or Some of the previous four events may describe things that we are all familiar with and therefore are not unique by them-
selves (but significant if they happen in rapid succession together as in this case). But, when we have �the heavens de-

Isaiah 34:4 � And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll: and all their host shall
fall down, as the leaf falleth off from the vine, and as a falling fig from the fig tree.
This is exactly what verses 13-14 say, but with more detail and out of order (most Bible prophecies outside of Revela-
tion do not give events in chronological order). The extra detail is that the heavens are rolling up like a scroll as well as
falling or dissolving/crumbling as an explanation for how they disappear. So, what we have here is stars falling and also
completely disappearing as if the sky was a scroll being rolled up. But what is rolling things up? The same material that
appears as shooting stars when smaller would fill the atmosphere and block you from seeing the distant stars at all. If it
came all at once, it would look like someone had just rolled up the sky. Perhaps this is why John does not simply say,
�clouds appeared.� This is different than normal local water vapor clouds. Something moves in completely and at once
globally. People near Mt. St. Helen's for the 1980 eruption reported thinking of this verse as the gas plume rolled in and
blocked the sky suddenly.
Atmospheric Dust and Prelude to Pole Shift
Global Panic and Run for Cover
The 6th seal ends by describing the response of humanity to all these frightening wonders. People from every strata of
society run for cover thinking (erroneously) �It�s Judgment Day!�. Judging by their actions, it seems that at the end of the 6th seal, people are finally aware of the four trumpets coming fast and this is why they are heading to the mountains and underground despite the great earthquake they just survived. It is better to risk being buried alive in a possible cave-in than to face certain death from falling rocks or other projectiles in tornado-like winds. By the way, the human response to the 6th seal should dispel any doubt that the events described in the previous verses are intended literally. This type of global panic on earth after the previous global frights confirms we have no allegory here!

Revelation is literal or only figurative and whether the seals, trumpets and bowls happen sequentially or happen in parallel, we will just jump right in reading it naturally. This is because PX so perfectly fits what Revelation literally says, that it can silence these debates forever. The only reason that these old debates have raged for centuries is because no one could conceive until the end times how the details of Revelation 6, 7 and 8 could literally be fulfilled just as written. (In fact, it was only in recent decades that scientists accepted that major asteroid impacts could happen on Earth). When information does not fit our paradigm, there is a tendency to distort it, and in this case this �paradigm blindness� forces people to rearrange the natural order of events and/or change their natural, literal meaning to make some sense of it. However, there is no reason to play around with the verses in that way once the previously missing
information about the existence and threat of PX is realized.
The 6th Seal Through The 4th Trumpet
That brings us up to verse 12 and the 6th seal, which is the first seal that does not possibly fit with any historical event. It is therefore properly considered the next seal to be fulfilled. We will next see how the 6 th seal fits what is expected to happen as Planet X makes its closest approach to Earth, and how the 7 th seal, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th trumpets fit what is expected to happen after PX has passed and we encounter its debris.

I remember doubting its literalness myself�until the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake. That 9.3 magnitude quake caused Sumatra to move over 100 feet out of place. Just imagine a 9.0+ quake everywhere, before a single impact on Earth. There is understandably not much research on near earth objects (NEO) causing earthquakes, but astronomers admit the possibility. It may be no coincidence that the greatest quake in America, the New Madrid of 1812 (approx. 8.0 magnitude) occurred after the Great Comet of 1811 finished its closest approach.
A Total Solar Eclipse & A Total Lunar Eclipse?
The Sun black as sackcloth of goat's hair describes a solar eclipse well. When the Sun is eclipsed, the rays of the corona look much like wispy goat hair coming out from the jet-black middle. Conversely, if the Sun is only blocked by something in the atmosphere, rather than the Moon, it would appear to be only dimmed (just as we will see at the 4 th trumpet) without appearing black as sackcloth. For the Sun itself to appear black, you have to have light escaping around it, making a contrast with the jet black middle, exactly as we see in total solar eclipses. A lunar eclipse would fit the Moon turning blood red and how some manuscripts say full moon which is when lunar eclipses happen. If the sackcloth sun is indeed a solar eclipse then this would place a two-week gap between these two eclipses. Just don't consult an eclipse table to predict when it will happen. Such tables don't factor in the star Wormwood, seen later as responsible for all of this. Solar or lunar eclipses do not happen every month because the orbit of the moon is offset five degrees from the Earth's. Therefore, most of the time the Moon is above or below the Earth's shadow and no eclipse happens even though it is a full moon. If the Earth or Moon were perturbed by a visitor to our solar system, an
unexpected eclipse could occur. There is also the possibility that Revelation (and the parallel in Joel 2:30) is describing something more significant. It could be describing a simultaneous lunar and solar eclipse. This would of course require another body to pass between Earth and the Sun at the time of the full moon, but subsequent details require a NEO to explain them as well.

parting like a scroll� and �every mountain and island being moved from their place� in relation to each other, this is

This fits the expectation that PX's gravity and magnetic field will be so strong as to cause the crust and mantle of the Earth to get out of sync and exhibit wrinkles or �crustal/mantle waves.� The heavens departing like a scroll is more difficult to explain. Comparing another description of this event in Isaiah helps:
The best explanation for the �stars falling to Earth� is not actual impacts from stars but a meteor shower, also commonly called �shooting stars�. Notice that it says it will be like figs falling from a tree in a mighty wind or like the �sky dissolving/rotting/crumbling� which also would be the impression given by a meteor shower. completely disappearing as if the sky was a scroll being rolled up. But what is rolling things up? The same material that
appears as shooting stars when smaller would fill the atmosphere and block you from seeing the distant stars at all. If it
came all at once, it would look like someone had just rolled up the sky. Perhaps this is why John does not simply say,
�clouds appeared.� This is different than normal local water vapor clouds. Something moves in completely and at once
globally. People near Mt. St. Helen's for the 1980 eruption reported thinking of this verse as the gas plume rolled in and
blocked the sky suddenly.

society run for cover thinking (erroneously) �It�s Judgment Day!�. It is better to risk being buried alive in a possible cave-in than to face certain death from falling rocks or other projectiles in tornado-like winds. By the way, the human response to the 6th seal should dispel any doubt that the events described in the previous verses are intended literally. This type of global panic on earth after the previous global frights confirms we have no allegory here!

Revelation is literal or only figurative and whether the seals, trumpets and bowls happen sequentially or happen in parallel, we will just jump right in reading it naturally. This is because PX so perfectly fits what Revelation literally says, that it can silence these debates forever. The only reason that these old debates have raged for centuries is because no one could conceive until the end times how the details of Revelation 6, 7 and 8 could literally be fulfilled just as written. (In fact, it was only in recent decades that scientists accepted that major asteroid impacts could happen on Earth). When information does not fit our paradigm, there is a tendency to distort it, and in this case this �paradigm blindness� forces people to rearrange the natural order of events and/or change their natural, literal meaning to make some sense of it. However, there is no reason to play around with the verses in that way once the previously missing
information about the existence and threat of PX is realized.
The 6th Seal Through The 4th Trumpet
That brings us up to verse 12 and the 6th seal, which is the first seal that does not possibly fit with any historical event. It is therefore properly considered the next seal to be fulfilled. We will next see how the 6 th seal fits what is expected to happen as Planet X makes its closest approach to Earth, and how the 7 th seal, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th trumpets fit what is expected to happen after PX has passed and we encounter its debris.
It would be an understatement to call this a frightening scene! This should make every one of us wonder if we are going to experience this event personally�and whether we will survive it. For the best chance of surviving anything, it helps to understand exactly what it entails. So let's take inventory of everything that we have described here:
A Great Earthquake
Until recent times, this description of a global earthquake moving every island and mountain out of place must have sounded fantastic. I remember doubting its literalness myself�until the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake. That 9.3 magnitude quake caused Sumatra to move over 100 feet out of place. Just imagine a 9.0+ quake everywhere, before a single impact on Earth. There is understandably not much research on near earth objects (NEO) causing earthquakes, but astronomers admit the possibility. It may be no coincidence that the greatest quake in America, the New Madrid of 1812 (approx. 8.0 magnitude) occurred after the Great Comet of 1811 finished its closest approach.
A Total Solar Eclipse & A Total Lunar Eclipse?
The Sun black as sackcloth of goat's hair describes a solar eclipse well. When the Sun is eclipsed, the rays of the corona look much like wispy goat hair coming out from the jet-black middle. Conversely, if the Sun is only blocked by something in the atmosphere, rather than the Moon, it would appear to be only dimmed (just as we will see at the 4 th trumpet) without appearing black as sackcloth. For the Sun itself to appear black, you have to have light escaping around it, making a contrast with the jet black middle, exactly as we see in total solar eclipses. A lunar eclipse would fit the Moon turning blood red and how some manuscripts say full moon which is when lunar eclipses happen. If the sackcloth sun is indeed a solar eclipse then this would place a two-week gap between these two eclipses. Just don't consult an eclipse table to predict when it will happen. Such tables don't factor in the star Wormwood, seen later as responsible for all of this. Solar or lunar eclipses do not happen every month because the orbit of the moon is offset five degrees from the Earth's. Therefore, most of the time the Moon is above or below the Earth's shadow and no eclipse happens even though it is a full moon. If the Earth or Moon were perturbed by a visitor to our solar system, an
unexpected eclipse could occur. There is also the possibility that Revelation (and the parallel in Joel 2:30) is describing something more significant. It could be describing a simultaneous lunar and solar eclipse. This would of course require another body to pass between Earth and the Sun at the time of the full moon, but subsequent details require a NEO to explain them as well.
Meteor Shower
Some of the previous four events may describe things that we are all familiar with and therefore are not unique by them-
selves (but significant if they happen in rapid succession together as in this case). But, when we have �the heavens de-
parting like a scroll� and �every mountain and island being moved from their place� in relation to each other, this is
something new to modern man. We are not talking about continental drift here at the rate that your fingernails grow. It is a sudden global catastrophe. This fits the expectation that PX's gravity and magnetic field will be so strong as to cause the crust and mantle of the Earth to get out of sync and exhibit wrinkles or �crustal/mantle waves.� The heavens departing like a scroll is more difficult to explain. Comparing another description of this event in Isaiah helps:
The best explanation for the �stars falling to Earth� is not actual impacts from stars but a meteor shower, also commonly called �shooting stars�. Notice that it says it will be like figs falling from a tree in a mighty wind or like the �sky dissolving/rotting/crumbling� which also would be the impression given by a meteor shower. PX is reported by those who have observed it to be dragging much debris and dust with it. If such a debris trail were left in our path from PX intersecting our orbit just ahead of us, this would cause a meteor shower as described. This, by the way, is also how regular annual meteor showers like the Lyrids or Some of the previous four events may describe things that we are all familiar with and therefore are not unique by them-

Isaiah 34:4 � And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll: and all their host shall
fall down, as the leaf falleth off from the vine, and as a falling fig from the fig tree.
This is exactly what verses 13-14 say, but with more detail and out of order (most Bible prophecies outside of Revela-
tion do not give events in chronological order). The extra detail is that the heavens are rolling up like a scroll as well as
falling or dissolving/crumbling as an explanation for how they disappear. So, what we have here is stars falling and also
completely disappearing as if the sky was a scroll being rolled up. But what is rolling things up? The same material that
appears as shooting stars when smaller would fill the atmosphere and block you from seeing the distant stars at all. If it
came all at once, it would look like someone had just rolled up the sky. Perhaps this is why John does not simply say,
�clouds appeared.� This is different than normal local water vapor clouds. Something moves in completely and at once
globally. People near Mt. St. Helen's for the 1980 eruption reported thinking of this verse as the gas plume rolled in and
blocked the sky suddenly.
Atmospheric Dust and Prelude to Pole Shift
Global Panic and Run for Cover
The 6th seal ends by describing the response of humanity to all these frightening wonders. People from every strata of
society run for cover thinking (erroneously) �It�s Judgment Day!�. Judging by their actions, it seems that at the end of the 6th seal, people are finally aware of the four trumpets coming fast and this is why they are heading to the mountains and underground despite the great earthquake they just survived. It is better to risk being buried alive in a possible cave-in than to face certain death from falling rocks or other projectiles in tornado-like winds. By the way, the human response to the 6th seal should dispel any doubt that the events described in the previous verses are intended literally. This type of global panic on earth after the previous global frights confirms we have no allegory here!
