James replies:

It means several different things.

1. to be saved from the wrath to come.

2. to be saved not just from sin but TO Holiness.

3. It means God showing mercy to a sinner by choosing to save them.

4. It means that Jesus died on the cross SPECIFICALLY for that person.

5. It means that God takes that TOTALLY spiritually DEAD person,

and makes them into a NEW creature.

6. It means that one day, God will PERFECT that persons nature, so they will be fit to live for eternity with God, in the Restored Creation, like God intended.

In Christ,

James

Dennis your welcome to answer? Unbelief does not rattle a believer.

Believing is a choice to who so ever will.

Salvation as on Romans 10:10

What do you believe the word salvation to mean?

It is my belief it is Best to Read the entire Chapter of Romans10 so not to Give one Verse an Importance of Meaning over Another by taking it out of Context. There is no Understanding in Reading a Book Starting in the Middle. Please read the WORD and what the WORD is referring to So the Message is not Missed or Mis-Interpeted

Romans 10: 1-21

1~Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.

2~For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, ( but not according to knowledge. )

3~For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

4~For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

5~For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them.

6~But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:)

7~Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.)

8~But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;

9~That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

10~For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto ( salvation. )

11~For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

12~For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.

13~For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

14~How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

15~And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

16~But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?

17~So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

18~But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world.

19~But I say, Did not Israel know? First Moses saith, I will provoke you to jealousy by them that are no people, and by a foolish nation I will anger you.

20~But Esaias is very bold, and saith, I was found of them that sought me not; I was made manifest unto them that asked not after me.

21~But to Israel he saith, ( All day long I have stretched forth my hands unto a disobedient and gainsaying people. )

In Christ...xo

No I dont.t believe salvation means to be born again, but one enters into the promise of their salvation when they are born again.

How do you suppose the Jews had a promise of salvation, when they where born again.

To be Saved is to be born again.

The word salvation has many meanings depending on the scripture it is used in.

Salvation in Rom10:10 MEANS

sōtēria

1) deliverance, preservation, safety, salvation

a) deliverance from the molestation of enemies

b) in an ethical sense, that which concludes to the souls safety or salvation

1) of Messianic salvation

2) salvation as the present possession of all true Christians

3) future salvation, the sum of benefits and blessings which the Christians, redeemed from all earthly ills, will enjoy after the visible return of Christ from heaven in the consummated and eternal kingdom of God.

soteria so-tay-ree'-ah feminine of a derivative as (properly, abstract) noun; rescue or safety (physically or morally):--deliver, health, salvation, save, saving.

Scripture describes a fourfold salvation: saved from the penalty, power, presence and the pleasure of sin.

Mercy Girl thank you for your responses, I read something recently that I agree with, in explaining the meaning of Salvation, the statement was simply Salvation is the sum total of all blessings to man from the father. This same word in Romans 10:10 is used approximately fourty five times in the new testament, we will have to dig into the epistles to really understand the vastness of our salvation, even pertaining to the present, as we are still upon the earth.

For instance do we really understand the meaning of this scripture:

Eph 2:4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,

Eph 2:5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.

In order to understand this illustration in scripture you must go back to Genesis and find man's dominion upon the earth.

You have to know who received that dominion after the fall.

You have to understand that Jesus had to come to earth as a man, and live as a man and destroy all the works of the devil, and the fact that Jesus stripped him of his dominion over all of mankind, and yet he still has dominion on the unsaved upon the earth, and will also exercise it on Christians not aware of their position in Christ and not knowing their authority given to them.

This topic could go on and on, and we would be just scratching the surface, it is so exciting to know of our full salvation.

It is very important to understand redemption in light of Galatians 3:13 and 14 to know the fullness of our salvation.

Father open our eyes to the whole of our salvation thru your word in Jesus name.

Romans 10:10 tells us that part of our salvation is wholeness as in every area of life.
