I believe so. Jesus's sacrifice is enough for the whole world. Will it save everyone? Obviously not.

Why did the cross happen?

It was the only way to redeem us from sin? It was either that or destroy all of us to save the universe. God chose to die for us instead.

the work that was done on the cross gives us an opportunity for eternal life with the Father. Like Mark said, not everyone will take that opportunity.

Was that a trick question?

Well, it sort of is a trick question. If you just leave it at the cross, then, no, the cross will not save us. It is the fact that Jesus died on the cross and then rose from the grave that saves us. If Jesus had simply died and never rose from the dead, then he would have simply been just another good guy that was unfairly crucified.

1 Corinthians 15:14 (NASB)

14 and if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, your faith also is vain.

I agree Cobbler! I get lazy in my thinking sometimes but when I think of the cross I think of the whole act that played out in the death, burial and resurrection. And that is a bad habit on my part. It is more about the resurrection than the death. That is where the real miracle occurred.

Hey everyone:

A woman living in a highrise,downtown Manhattan,NY.

There is a fire on the first floor of this building, she lives on the top floor.

This lady climbs to the roof and is trapped on the roof.

The only way to rescue her is to have a fire truck with a ladder that reaches to the roof and beyond.

The truck arrives and the ladder is extended, with a fireman climbing the ladder.

The fireman reaches the lady, and brings her down to the sidewalk.

Upon reaching the ground the lady expresses her tremendous gratitude.

She goes over to the fire truck and ladder, kisses them and says Thank you so much for rescuing me...

Who rescued this lady, the truck and ladder or the fireman that put his life on the line....

Now then, who saves us,The cross or Yeshua...

Shalom and Chesed

St.George
