Should homosexuals/lesbians be "allowed" to be baptized into a church?

If they're unrepentant, no. If they recognize that what they're doing is sin and they are actively trying to overcome that, then absolutely they should be able to be baptized.

Honestly, if someone doesn't even recognize sin for what it is, I would question whether they've truly grasped the Gospel in the first place.

Good topic =)

Why stop with homosexuals/lesbians? What about fornicators? Should they be baptized?

Yeah, what about liars? Gossipers? Cheaters? Sluggards? Arrogant fools? Sinners? Anyway...I think pixy hit it. As long as they recognize it as sin, and are turning from it. Thankfully God doesn't leave people out of His favor/grace until they're sinless. Thank God.

I so agree!!! Like homosexuals that think their perversion is not so bad to send them to hell that they can live in there sin and still be a Christian so do fornicators, liars, gossipers, cheater, sluggards & arrogant fools!

Ah how sweet is the grace of God to save us from these things!!!

The beauty of Justification is that our sin is separated from us as far as the East is from the West. When we are washed in the blood of Jesus we appear to Father as pure as little lambs. We have no spot or blemish.

I love the words of Peter, Act 2:38 "Repent," replied Peter, "and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ, with a view to the remission of your sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. " (1912 Weymouth NT)

Anyone who repents of their sins can be baptized and receive communion. Jesus told the women who commited adultery to go and sin no more.

We are to tell the gay person to stop it and invite them to church.Sometimes it takes awhile for everything to change.

We must understand we are no better than the gay person.

The sin of homosexuality is the same as lieing or murder.

The same as stealing a $1.00 candy bar in the eyes of GOD.

Question?????? would you baptize a repentent thief???

Homosexual????

murderer????

I would.Dennis

Pro 6:16 There are six things that the LORD hates, even seven that are disgusting to him:

Pro 6:17 arrogant eyes, a lying tongue, hands that kill innocent people,

Pro 6:18 a mind devising wicked plans, feet that are quick to do wrong,

Pro 6:19 a dishonest witness spitting out lies, and a person who spreads conflict among relatives.

homosexuality is not amount these things listed. Of course, we all know that it is a sin. But, according to these Scripture it would be worse to "spread conflict among relatives" than commit sexual sin.

I guess we could assume that a homosexual person does devise wicked plans in their mind and runs to act them out.

what do ya'll think of the recent studies that claim that homosexuality is a brain/nerological choice, "ie they can't help it, any more than you can help natural eye color"? not wanting to make anyone angry, i just have so many very young Gay friends, who my daughter befriended in high school. "We Are both Straight" My daughter tells me, that she befriended them because no one else would. They responded by treating us so good, ie when we are out of food them bring us some, when I worked strange hours, they made sure my daughter was safe. I LOVE these kids so very much, and really don't know how that fits in with being a "good Christian" Debby

It's still a sin that needs to be forgiven, just like anything else. And they "may" be born that way, but God didn't make them that way. Some people are born with a tendency toward violence/alcoholism/drug abuse. I was born with a tendency to sin. It doesn't mean no one can love me, but it does mean that if I choose to follow Christ then I should obey Him and turn from sin. All sin. As Christians, we're supposed to hate our sinful nature and our desires of the flesh. Homosexuality falls into those categories, just like lying/stealing/etc, and a Christian would seek to remove those sins from their lives. You can love everybody all you want, that is what Jesus does. Just don't love them to death. Love them and show them the way to life.
