Makes you stop and think where our priorities are?

Cell Phone vs. Bible

I wonder what would happen if we treated our Bible like we treat our

cell phones?

What if we carried it around in our purses or pockets?

What if we turned back to go get it if we forgot it?

What if we flipped through it several times a day?

What if we used it to receive messages?

What if we treated it like we couldn't live without it?

What if we gave it to kids as gifts?

What if we used it as we traveled?

What if we used it in case of an emergency?

What if we upgraded it to get the latest version?

This is something to make you go, hmmm, where is my Bible?

Oh, and one more thing. Unlike our cellphones, we dont ever have to worry

about our bible being disconnected because Jesus already paid the bill!

, C'on guys tell me your views!

Have a blessed day!

Very good post. Convicting =)

I was in the hospital real recently (twice) and I totally forgot to take my Bible with me the 1st time. And I was there for a few days. I was frantically tossing stuff into my hospital bag and just didn't even think of it until I was at the hospital, feeling really depressed, and wishing I had it to read. BUT, I did not forget the cell phone. I must admit that it seems more automatic to grab that than to grab my Bible.

I really need to just invest in another Bible. A small one that can be taken along easily. Of all of the things I spend money on, that should be one of them. After all, I have like every necessity known to man in my purse. I carry around a cosmetic bag with me everywhere, which even has dental floss in it, of all things. And my Bible is surely more important than dental floss =)

I actually always have a bible with me. I keep one in my car, one in my room and a small Gideon's bible in my purse. When I'm at work, if I don't have my bible at my elbow, I go to biblegateway.com. I forget my cell phone all the time! lol

Even if I do not carry one with me (and sometimes it's just not all that easy to do) I'm in the process of getting it in my mind by memorizing it. Scripture gives the Holy Spirit a vocabulary- so if it's in my mind and heart as well as my hands, then I'm much better off than if it were just in my hands.

I keep a bible in my bag and it really comes in handy especially since I need to work on memorization, I usually have to pull it out and find the verse since I had paraphrasing.

What I did just start doing a couple of months back is carry around a little stack of index cards in my purse with the verses on them that I'm attempting to memorize. That way, if I'm waiting at the doctor's office or wherever, I can pull those out and flip through them. But that definitely competes with me checking my Facebook on my phone. I know that memorization is rewarding, but I've always had trouble with it. And it seems like that, within churches, people only encourage the children to memorize. Are we just supposed to already have the whole Bible memorized by the time we're adults? LOL :goofball:

Good to have easy access to the word. However, cell phones have been linked in Israeli and European studies to a 400% increase in brain cancers with 30 minutes of use a day. This research is old news, I know, but important to mention. American studies are all biased and funded by cell phone companies. I get migraines from them and I know people and of people who get ear and memory loss from them. Always use the speaker phone feature or the appropriate ear buds. Tumors on the nerve from the ear to the brain become more common and another type, too. Just information for those who don't want to die a slow painful death from negligence. Americans use food preservatives that are banned in Europe. Building high voltage power lines near homes is illegal in Europe. Sodium benzoate? Banned. Mercury in fillings? Banned. (Mercury will rot your brain in a New York second. I know. They said it was in an allow with silver. It is so dangerous, now they say to just keep them in than remove them.) Always question the world around you. Never trust the world. Only trust God and pray for wisdom.
