Jesus is a Greek name for the Lord and it is also now an English word as well as Spanish, etc.

We keep running across the name Jeshua here. That is one possible Hebrew name for Jesus. It could also be Yehoshua.

Jesus came from the Nazareth and Capernaum area. The language most common there was Aramaic along with the common Greek of the time. Jesus and His Discilpes were probaly speaking Aramaic. There was a Galilean Dialect to Aramaic which explains how the Disciples were quickly picked out as having come from there.

Read Titus 3:9 for yourself.

Remember, everyday people are saved praying to Jesus.

Oh no!!! You mean to say that if we get the spelling wrong we are only pseudo saved ???

Perhaps we should start a new religion. We could call it the "Yeshua's Wittnesses" and we can be the only religion who knows and has the restored true name. Since the bible says there is no other name that we can be saved by, we would have the corner on the salvation market!

This is a good post because it begs the question; Aside from spelling and languages what is the "name of Jesus"?

It is funny you should mention this. I had a prison ministry for quite some time, and got to watch the progression from newly saved to maturity in many men. This was one of the things I noticed. They all reached the point where they called Jesus, Yeshua. A few got used to it and continued, but for most, it was a stage they went through.

I am not putting down anyone's belief. You have a right to call Him by whatever name you choose. I just don't know why people think God can't understand all the languages involved. He knows our heart, He knows who we talking about.

Love and grace,

Leon
