shavuotPosted : 5 May, 2010 06:42 PMWhat is the feast of shavuot my friends? what does it have to do with our faith? This is a hebrew word. Do you greek scholars know the Greek word? It happens 50 days after the feast of unleavened bread, (passover) Where is it mentioned in the new testament and its importance to our faith. Oh, some big clues, the book of Ruth happened at this time. Some jews even beieve that Moses get the 10 Commandments on this day. |

shavuotPosted : 5 May, 2010 07:55 PMWhat is it? It involved burnt and grain offerings and the presentation of a sheaf of the firstfruits of the barley harvest. Burnt and grain offerings are both expressions of worship and of devotion to God. The burnt offering also provided atonement for unintentional sin and was symbolic of surrender to God. The grain offering expressed thankfulness for God's provisions. The symbolism of giving of our firstfruits is seen throughout the Old and New Testaments as a way of withholding nothing from God, acknowledging that it all comes from Him, dedicating and surrending it to Him, and honouring Him above all else. |
