Should we avoid the SDA church?

Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. Romans 16:17

The Seventh-Day Adventist denomination teaches many doctrines that are contrary to those taught by the Apostles. God's Word commands that we mark them as false teachers and separate from them.

This doesn't mean that all Sabbath keeping churches are wrong. Sabbath is still to be kept and there are churches out there that are teaching wholesome doctrine.

If you seperate from everyone that teaches wrong doctrine, you might find yourself quite alone after a while. Maybe you'd even end up seperating from yourself, by causing such a division...

What I want to say? You can put any other denomination for SDA. Splitting up more doesn't cure splitting...

God bless you

Yeah....just what I was thinking...I mean...you're recommending to split or ignore or avoid fellow Christians yourself, right? Doesn't seem like hypocrisy at all? I believe you believe doctrines that are not what the apostles taught...but I'm not calling you a false teacher or a heretic. Why not? Because I know I don't have all the truth. I'm human...just like you are. You are human aren't you? Obviously you are...because you just posted a bible verse that said to mark those that cause divisions and then you advocate separation...nice.

Romans 16:17 "Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them." this verse commands people to mark and separate themselves from persons which cause division and offences contrary to the doctrine which they have learned. lol, the man is not being hypocritical.

his application however is erroneous. he applies it to the SDA denom, but the verse is not meant for denominations! it is meant for persons' who " cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned" ... that doctrine according to 1 Corinthians 1:23 "But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;"

seriously people, the bible tells us to follow Christ! he is the word, and the word is truth as well as a lamp unto your path. nothing is wrong with hearing what other people believe, but sheesh. as a matter of fact, that verse is denouncing all the e.g whites, the calvins, the arminian etc

i mean really!!!!!!!!:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Amen De Benny! ...sorta like a rose by any other name smells as sweet: A split is a split and it is a stench in God's nostrils! God is all about unity and oneness. satan subtracts and divides.

The original God-authorized religion was Judaism. Jesus was/is a Jew and followed Jewish tradition and law. So, why don't we? ...because of so many splits! We are all wrong on some point.

Let's take it back to the original form! The part we do not need to observe is the sacrificial lamb offerings, because Jesus was The Sacrifice, Who was pleasing to God...the Sacrificial Lamb Offering, once for all.

Should we avoid the SDA church?

What you are really asking is whether we should avoid people who are attending SDA churches.

I think this is the beginning of the end.

As soon as we start to avoid people who in our opinion are following wrong doctrines, we get situations like on this forum where christians call other christians followers of demon teachings

People just say this and think that they are doing the world a favor because they are so right and the other is so wrong.

This dehumanization is the beginning of genocids. Do not laugh because it really is. As soon as others are put aside as being wrong or false. They become less valuable and not important enough to be defended. Soon enough we do not care about them no more. Whether they live or die.... or be killed or slaughtered.

We just mention it casually while having dinner. Another killing? Ooh yeah, SDA believers.... yeah, well I am not saying they should be killed but you know they are wrong in their doctrine...... Could you pass me the salt please?

No, CARM does not recommend attending the Seventh-day Adventist church. There are too many problems within Seventh-day Adventistism to recommend it as a safe church. Though there are Seventh-day Adventist groups that are within orthodoxy, there are too many of them that are not.

One of the problems with Seventh-day Adventism is Saturday worship. They are certainly free to worship on Saturday. That is not unbiblical. However, the problem is when any Seventh-day Adventist group asserts that the proper day of worship is Saturday, not Sunday. The early church practiced worship on Sunday and the scriptures mention the church gathering on Sunday, the same day Jesus rose:

* The Christians also heard a message from Paul on the first day of the week (Acts 20:7).

o Note: the reference is until midnight which is not the Jewish method of measuring days, but the Roman system.

* Paul instructed the churches to put aside contributions on the first day of the week (1 Cor. 16:2).

Furthermore, Romans 14:1-12 speaks of our freedom in Christ, particularly our freedom to worship on any day we choose.

CARM cannot recommend any church which would openly deny the biblical doctrine of predestination (in contradiction to Eph. 1:1-11), deny the doctrine of the immortality of the soul (in contradiction to Luke 16:19-31; Matt. 25:46), and deny eternal hellfire (in contradiction to Rev. 14:11). Nor can we recommend a church that affirms that Jesus is Michael the Archangel,1 and that the wicked are annihilated (in contradiction to Luke 16:19-31; Matt. 25:46).

1. 1. The SDA church says that Jesus, as Michael the Archangel in the Old Testament, was not a created being as orthodox theology states of Michael the Archangel. Instead, the SDA church interprets the appearance of Michael the Archangel as the pre-incarnate Christ.

We need to look at the teachings of denominations to see if they are in the truth. If they are not then a warning needs to be sent out. Doesn't mean people will stop following false teachings but if it saves a few then well worth the cost of stepping on a few toes.

Could ya pass the butter with that salt please...?

Yes...and Paul had sermons and met with believers on the 7th day as well. And on the 2nd day. And the fifth. And of course taking up donations on the first day so they won't have to waste time when Paul is there also transfers the solemnity and holiness of the Sabbath to Sunday. Right. Anyway...I would understand when people claim they are under freedom to worship God on whatever day they choose...but please. Those other scriptures are not support. Doesn't matter what day you worship God on. The question is....is it safe for a christian to say they don't have to keep a commandment of God? James, do you think it's ok to pray to idols? No? So what do you think about Christians that pray to idols? Do you think it's ok to work for your own personal gain on the sabbath? Are you doing the same thing I am, and then claiming you're better than me?

12. Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words.

13. But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia. Daniel 10:12-13

20. Then said he, Knowest thou wherefore I come unto thee? and now will I return to fight with the prince of Persia: and when I am gone forth, lo, the prince of Grecia shall come.

21. But I will shew thee that which is noted in the scripture of truth: and there is none that holdeth with me in these things, but Michael your prince. Daniel 10: 20-21

1. And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.

2. And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

3. And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever. Daniel 12:1-3

Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee. Jude 1:9

7. And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,

8. And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.

9. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

10. And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

11. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

12. Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time. Revelation 12:7-12

13. But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.

14. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

15. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

16. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

17. Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

18. Wherefore comfort one another with these words. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

25. Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.

26. For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;

27. And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.

28. Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,

29. And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation. John 5:25-29

13. And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries?

14. And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the LORD am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my lord unto his servant?

15. And the captain of the LORD'S host said unto Joshua, Loose thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place whereon thou standest is holy. And Joshua did so. Joshua 5:13-15

And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, Revelation 12:7

14. And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses.

19. And I saw the beast, the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against Him who sat on the horse and against His army.

20. Then the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who worked signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image. These two were cast alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone.

21. And the rest were killed with the sword which proceeded from the mouth of Him who sat on the horse. And all the birds were filled with their flesh. Revelation 19:14, 19-21

15. Then Manoah said to the Angel of the LORD, "Please let us detain You, and we will prepare a young goat for You."

16. And the Angel of the LORD said to Manoah, "Though you detain Me, I will not eat your food. But if you offer a burnt offering, you must offer it to the LORD." (For Manoah did not know He was the Angel of the LORD.)

17. Then Manoah said to the Angel of the LORD, "What is Your name, that when Your words come to pass we may honor You?

18. And the Angel of the LORD said to him, "Why do you ask My name, seeing it is wonderful?

19. So Manoah took the young goat with the grain offering, and offered it upon the rock to the LORD. And He did a wondrous thing while Manoah and his wife looked on--

20. it happened as the flame went up toward heaven from the altar--the Angel of the LORD ascended in the flame of the altar! When Manoah and his wife saw this, they fell on their faces to the ground.

21. When the Angel of the LORD appeared no more to Manoah and his wife, then Manoah knew that He was the Angel of the LORD.

22. And Manoah said to his wife, "We shall surely die, because we have seen God!"

23. But his wife said to him, "If the LORD had desired to kill us, He would not have accepted a burnt offering and a grain offering from our hands, nor would He have shown us all these things, nor would He have told us such things as these at this time." Judges 13:15-23

For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6

2. And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.

3. And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.

4. And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.

5. And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.

6. Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God.

7. And the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows; Exodus 3:2-7

10. And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.

11. And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.

12. And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.

13. And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.

14. And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.

15. And the angel of the LORD called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time,

16. And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son:

17. That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;

18. And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice. Genesis 22:10-18

11. And the angel of God spake unto me in a dream, saying, Jacob: And I said, Here am I.

12. And he said, Lift up now thine eyes, and see, all the rams which leap upon the cattle are ringstraked, speckled, and grisled: for I have seen all that Laban doeth unto thee.

13. I am the God of Bethel, where thou anointedst the pillar, and where thou vowedst a vow unto me: now arise, get thee out from this land, and return unto the land of thy kindred. Genesis 31:11-13

19. And the Angel of God, who went before the camp of Israel, moved and went behind them; and the pillar of cloud went from before them and stood behind them.

20. So it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel. Thus it was a cloud and darkness to the one, and it gave light by night to the other, so that the one did not come near the other all that night. Exodus 14:19-20

And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so as to go by day and night. 22 He did not take away the pillar of cloud by day or the pillar of fire by night from before the people. Exodus 13:21-22

There's more scripture, but I think that's enough...I don't see the problem. Adventists don't claim Jesus was a created being. "Angel" in the bible just means "messenger". Jesus is the only part of the God-head that has ever been seen by men. He is the "Messenger/Angel of God's Presence". Makes sense to me.

8. For He said, "Surely they are My people, Children who will not lie." So He became their Savior.

9. In all their affliction He was afflicted, And the Angel of His Presence saved them; In His love and in His pity He redeemed them; And He bore them and carried them All the days of old. Isaiah 63:8-9

Anyway...you're right, I'm wrong...sorry you guys can't recommend my church...that really makes me feel bad:rolleyes:. Apparently you can't recommend anyone that doesn't agree with your beliefs. That pretty much narrows it down to your church.

:peace::peace:
