BibleTime - Free Bible Study Software

I noticed a few posts asking about various scriptures, and where they could be found in the bible.

Here is a free bible study program, that you can download and use for doing powerful bible studies, and searches.

Welcome to the BibleTime project.

BibleTime is a completely free Bible study program. The program's user interface runs on several operating systems including Linux, Windows, FreeBSD and Mac OS X. The software uses the SWORD programming library to work with over 200 free Bible texts, commentaries, dictionaries and books provided by the Crosswire Bible Society.

The CrossWire Bible Society is an organization with the purpose to sponsor and provide a place for engineers and others to come and collaborate on free, open-source projects aimed at furthering the Kingdom of our God. We are also a resource pool to other Bible societies and Christian organizations that can't afford-- or don't feel it's their place-- to maintain a quality programming staff in house. We provide them with a number of tools that assist them with reaching their domain with Christ.

If you Google for BibleTime and CrossWire Bible Society you should find the links then.

So... is there anyone who has tried BOTH of these programs? I'm interested in getting one. I've been using an online parallel bible site, but it doesn't sound near as thorough as either of these. Thanks.

In Christ

I use BibleTime on Linux OS. It has a lot of different versions of the Bible.

The easiest thing to do would be to download and install BibleTime or a similar program, and check out what it does.

SWORD library version 1.6.1

BibleTime makes use of the SWORD Project. The SWORD Project is the CrossWire Bible Society's free Bible software project. Its purpose is to create cross-platform open-source tools-- covered by the GNU General Public License-- that allow programmers and Bible societies to write new Bible software more quickly and easily.

I have been using e-sword for years and it is one of the best Free programs out there. Many versions on there plus you can also download the Ante-Nicene Church Fathers and also various books, maps, commentaries, etc. You have to pay for the NKJV and couple of others but it is a nominal fee. The NKJV is well worth the less than 14.00.

Blessings!

I had never heard of e-sword.com. I just downloaded it and then realized that it can be customized. One thing that excites me is that there is an available free download of Noah Webster's 1828 Dictionary! I have used this dictionary as a Bible study tool for probably 15 years. I have never found an online version, much less a free one! I am giddy with excitement! :dancingp: :applause: :dancingp:

Thanks so much for sharing your wealth of knowledge about the Scriptures and this resource.

There are a couple translations of the Bible that I like to use that are available here, but you have to pay to download them. :hearts::hearts::hearts::hearts:
